Samsung removed the LTE chip from the SGS3

Hi

If anyone is wondering whether their SGS3 supports LTE.

Simple answer: NO! Seems like Samsung SA decided the LTE is not worth including in the SGS3's release to SA...

Almost all the international versions of the SGS3 don't support LTE. Only the american one does and i think one or two other countries.

Actually by reading that article you will see that there is an international version of the Samsung Galaxy S3 that is still to be released in South Africa: Samsung Galaxy S3 LTE Specs

In the wikipedia article it is referred to as GT-I9305[T] in the table showing the different model versions and also look at note 86 for more detail on this phone.

I have also posted a thread on this HERE

Whistle all you want, my point remains the same. The international version originally released by Samsung (GT-I9300) had no LTE. It does not bother me, as I am on wifi 90% of the time, so I am not going to do all the research to check all the intricate details but it is my inderstanding that there was some issue between quad core and LTE. It is for this reason the US got the dual core version and LTE. But feel free to correct me again because as stated it doesn't really bother me, however, blaming South Africa for it does.

Yeah, as far as i understand the quad core ones are not lte compliant. So for when we got it out was good. Will still see what happens in the future with this.
