Cheaper Windows 8 Samsung Ativ tablet from Standard Bank

Is this really windows 8 or is it Windows RT (on the ARM platform). I understood that Windows 8 intel tablets only launch in Q1 2013

Brilliant Standard Bank, the rest will follow.

We are all going to be Metro-fied (Blok-be*** in Afrikaans !)

Most likey Windows RT. Will there be a torrent app for Windows RT?

It will be Windows RT.

the Windows 8 tablets have not been launched yet.

Great offer from Standard Bank.

Can they not offer it on contract or as a monthly service fee option like R250/mth in admin fees with a free Ativ Tab for your cheque card or something like that?

If it is arm it is Windows RT and the entry level version so the price is steep compared to Android even iPad.

Does that have mobile connectivity at all?

Yeah. I think an important piece of info has been left out.

Like the specs of this device.

What does "it will come with a cover" mean. Is it a touch type? Does it act as a stand for the tablet?

I am expecting articles on specs, pricing and comparisons of incoming Win8 devices from MyBB soon.

Why on earth not? Surely you can install in on your own tablet if you have a x86/x64 CPU?

Ok, slightly wrong info on my part..

x86 Windows tablets should have been launched, MS have just not launched the x86 Surface yet.

The Ativ though is an RT tablet.

its not on their website, has this been launched yet ?

Link.

It is R300 more expensive than a similarly spec'ed iPad (32GB) but its a sweet deal considering the fact that it has Office, which one would otherwise buy for at least R700.

However.

If I am to buy a Windows 8 tablet (RT or Pro), here are my terms:
- Contract @ R300/mth or less (incl. a modem with at least 1GB of data)
- Availability of keyboard/full docking station, which I would buy seperately and should not cost more than R700

Simple.

N.B: It will be replacing my PC.
