Esquire has started selling a low-end HiSense Android 2.3 phone for R799excl. vat. Finding details and reviews on the HiSense U1 Android phone is sketchy to come by but spec's wise it's got a lot going for it's price:

U1 Key Specifications:
WCDMA Smartphone, Android 2.3
Dual Mode, Dual Standby
WIFI, Bluetooth, GPS

Description:
U1 is a WCDMA smartphone basing on Qualcomm MSM7225A, the CPU is 800MHz. Dual Mode, Dual Standby. 3.5 Inches HVGA full view angle display, support WIFI/BT/FM/GPS.

Looking at the local HiSense sight teases an elegant phone coming soon:

Which could very well be this Quad Core Android phone right here:

What about Galaxy Pocket also from Esquire R699+VAT?
I think safe bet.

I think safe bet.

2.8inch vs 3.5inch is what it comes down to. And the HiSense does have a better screen res.

I see HiSense are already teasing on FB about their phones.

All depends you like fireworks or a good usability (including battery life). I wouldn't invest in the phone which doesn't have full spec published.
