New Vodacom smartphone plans and pricing

Per-second billing is good, but I'm still a believer of creating your own package: get the cheapest/most basic plan you can, and add bundles. It always works out less with Vodacom, and you even have the pleasure of paying a fixed bill every month.

Have they done anything yet to prevent them from ripping consumers off with the OOB shark? I see they're still abusing wallets with R1/MB OOB rates. So a few minutes OOB in an LTE zone and you're out of pocket to the tune of a couple thousand rand. Blackberry users are going to be in for a helluva shock if this is their first time meeting the OOB shark...

Holy crap! What's with all the useless sms bundles? 800 sms a month!! Wow....

Its just so funny really.... but it will still be the users fault remember, Vodacom give the users all the tools necessary (without actually telling them about any of them in an effective manner) to keep their data usage in check.

Marketing, its a wonderful thing..

Here, I have this wonderful service to sell to you at this fantastic price, and to make it even sweeter we'll thrown in a service that costs us nothing and that nobody uses anymore, and we'll give you LOTS of them.

Actually they don't. I pointed out how each and every one of their supposed solutions do not resolve the problem - the post was ignored. Vodacom do not have a solution for the OOB shark. It's taken them a decade so far...

Sorry, should have put sarcasm tags in my post.....

Completely agree with you though, they have no real tools.. they can monitor data usage almost real time on PrePaid, but not PostPaid, wonder why that is....

They are OK-ish I suppose. Those package names seem ill advised to me though. Half the ppl won't remember the number of X's in their packages name.

that nobody uses anymore, and we'll give you LOTS of them.
I still use it. SMS are slightly more reliable than say whatsapp/BBM. Everyone can receive SMS...while I've run into cases where people don't use whatsapp, or only have whatsapp on one of their number etc.

That being said I don't use all 30 ish SMSs MTN gives me.

Does Vodacom have some internal employee award going on to award people when they invent a new package? Because it seems they are adding new ones weekly without dropping old ones!

What about simplifying, Vodacom? Drop all your packages and introduce just 5 that people can choose from (excluding pre-paid - where there should be only 1 package).

I was really hoping VC would introduce an unlimited voice product to compete with Telkom/8ta. All and all this looks pretty off the mark to me.

Vodacom need to fire their product people, cos they suck.

Make it simple for the customer, like smart 1, 2, 3..... Same as 8ta, and much less confusing.

Or call it Smart 200, 500, 1000, etc according to size of data bundle.
