Seacom cable network successfully repaired (23 April 2013)

Well thanks Seacom. Glad to hear all back to normal.

Now if only Mweb would stop shaping torrents.

Thats why it doesn't really matter. More competition in this space would change things

We've already got three "cheaper" undersea cables, one on a fully redundant path around West Africa and we still get these things. The problem is the inability for full restoration by the redundant paths automatically and rapidly. WACS and SEACOM/EASSY should have the capability to take each others load at short notice instead of the hacking together of patches via other Mediterranean cables that were over-full.
