The whizzyy will work with most USB modems and if a modem is not compatible it can be added to the firmware by Stylus. It is available at CNA, Edgars, Coming into HiFi corp. Musica and Istore. R399.00 Www.whizzyy.co.za :)

The best and cheapest USB 3G router The Whizzyy
Normally those two adjectives are mutually exclusive.

Can you post a list of modems that are currently compatible here or on your website please?

What's the price of one of these?

edit: ok I see its R399.

It is NOT the cheapest...

For what it does it is!

1. 3G Hotspot: Share USB 3G modem with up to 20 users
2. ADSL Router: Share your ADSL line via Wi-Fi with up to 20 users
3. Wi-Fi Repeater. Extend your existing Wi-Fi signal
Power Bank: Recharge your Cell phone with the built in Power Bank

99% of routers work. If you have a specific make model number that your interested in please post and i will let you know. So far the only incompatible modem we had was the Cell C Nokia and we have now added that to the Firmware.

A list would be better, but how about Vodafone K3805-Z, Huawei E303 and Huawei E3276?

Huawei E303 is on the list. The other 2 are not but they can be added. Are you in the business?

I enquired at 2 CNA and 2 Edgars stores about this modem and at all of them the sales person stared at me and none of them had a clue what I was talking about....they never heard of it.

Some of the CNA and Edgars sales people do not even know what t 3G modem is never mind the Whizzyy.
It is now avalable at Hi-Fi Corp. Would you mind telling me at which CNA and Edgars you enquired?

I see this gadget is available at HiFi Corp for R399. Two things bug me:
* 4 hrs battery life. My EDUP 9501N uses a standard Nokia BL-5C battery (1020mAh) and I get a max of one hour usage per battery with my k-3565z modem. The Whizzyy has an 1800mAh battery, I seriously doubt it will hit anywhere close to 4hrs, especially if you have 20 active connections;
* with that 1800mAh battery it certainly won't be very effective as a power bank with either my Note 1 or Nexus 7...

Of course you wont get 4 hours out of it if you using 20 connections. The battery bank will give you extra time on your device. How much time depends on the devices power consumption. It does not claim to be a UPS.

Fact that it has internal battery is a big plus when working with 3G modems. You won't have power delivery problems, so many modems not working properly with other routers should work nicely here. I like this gadget and considering price I would buy it.

I've got a couple of questions:
1) Is the ZTE MF190 Modem supported?
2) What is the latest firmware (where can I download)?
3) Where can one get more technical info? I assume this is an oem product based on the RT2880 chipset?

I'm asking about the ZTE modem because it would seem that the router does recognize the modem, but it never connects? I've tried manual APN settings and a longer timeout.

What else can I try?

Regards,
D

Take out the modem. Turn on router and wait for the light to flash blue. Insert the modem, see what happens. Let me know if that works.
