Apple asked for help in Oscar Pistorius murder case

What a load of nonsense.

Try: 1234

What is his best time? Minutes + seconds.

Input wrong pin three times- then call SP to get puk

Should work

Why the **** would Apple co-operate? Don't they need to insist on a court order?

This is where you are very, very wrong.

The legal process allows for an investigator to apply for a court order here in SA that will instruct information / assistance from the US-based company. This request will be sent, via Interpol, to a Californian-based police agency where an investigator will be appointed to attend to the court order. This order will be taken to a local court in California where they will request a formal court order there instructing the company to comply. The court order will be delivered to the company and all results will be forwarded back to SA.

I dealt with this process many, many times - it just takes long, but it works. If you do have connections with agencies such as the US Secret Service or FBI (who has offices here in SA) you can bypass the long wait dealing with them directly.

But, at the end of the day it is quite easy to get a court order to any company in the world if you are a police officer.

Weren't the devices confiscated/taken into evidence on the night of the murder by police?
Also, if any of you use multiple devices you'll know it gets confusing very quickly to remember the PINs across different devices. At one stage I had 3 cellphones on me at any given time and it got confusing very quickly.

People should stop jumping to conclusions. If you had been through everything this dude is going through (not to mention the added scrutiny and media mobbing because he's a celebrity) you might also forget something as simple as the PIN on a phone you haven't used in a few months.

BS reasoning.

If you have two, three or four phones you use all the time, you will obviously be writing down the pin numbers somewhere. Even more so with only one phone.

How many times does it not happen that you battery goes flat while busy during the course of a day. Does this mean you need to replace your phone everytime the battery goes flat and you 'can't remember your pin'?

But, let's look at this case. You are charged with murder and there is an investigation surrounding your phone and the contents thereon. Don't you think it will be easier to say 'I can't remember my PIN'?

The best time works better otherwise they will need to treat him for amnesia, memory lose, ;)

Lol :D

Quick Question: Why would you need to go to Apple in america to unlock a iphone? Surely there should be somekind of way around locking your iphone? I don't have any apple products so please excuse my ignorance.

Also, I once forgot my sim card pin after watching Star Wars episode 1. It is totally possible to forget a pin. For me personally i dont even remember the pin, but rather the pattern of pressing the numbers. So if i ever have to enter it on a keypad that with the numbers swapped around I will be screwed! (for like five seconds until i realise.)
