So it looks like my 2.1 Microlab system just gave in. Got home earlier and it started making a loud, humming sound. It was working fine last night. I honestly don't know what could have caused it to fail. Perhaps some rain came through the window and went into it? Anyway, so I need a replacement sound system but I need something that has a remote control for the volume. The current Microlab I have, only has a volume thingy attached to the speakers and sub, and so I have to keep getting up to adjust the volume. I need a remote so that I can just sit in one place and control it. Any suggestions? :(

Plenty sound systems in the shops such as HI-FI corp.

Why not go for 5.1?

...you electrical components are near a window...during winter...sigh

anyway...get a sound bar.

Something strange happened. I attempted to open the speaker. Couldn't. Well, kinda half managed it. Put it back together and it worked :wtf: Don't know what went wrong. Anyway, thanks for the replies. Will see how it goes. If it acts up again, I will need to get another system.

How much would a decent one cost? I don't wanna cough out a lot.

Not that high. Probably around R400 tops.

Yeah. Usually the windows are closed but today I decided to leave it open :(

Sounds bars - aren't they expensive?

Pawn shop, AV receiver plus a few speakers will beat any pc sound system.

Thats what I am planning to get at the end of the month for R1199, but from Govan Mani new.

Panasonic sc-xh60 5.1

My old NAD 3020i decided to drop one of it's stereo channels (bad caps, gonna rebuilt this gem at some stage) so now I'm using a NAD T751 + some Mission bipoles for my PC sound, awesome stuff :D

I think I am actually going to try this route. Any suggestions on brands etc? My budget has gone up, so please feel free to make suggestions up to R1.5K.
