Notice to all!!!!!:

When you downgrade the account to 1G or whatever please take note that the automatic booster (default enabled) will be active when you change over so on 1Sept you have to log on and change the default to capped booster at 1G else you are in for a huge out of bundle bill if you don't as the cancellation will only be effective end Sept..

BE WARNED!

...thx for the tip Seriously...

If you want to cancel your account you need to give a calender months notice...therefore you will only be able to leave at the end of September. Therefore you downgrade to a 1GB account which costs a HELL of a lot less than let's say your current 4mb or 10mb package.

By doing this you save yourself a bundle of cash for the month of September while you switch over to another ISP.

noted, will share.

What I would like to know, how are you billed if you decide to downgrade?

When does this take affect? End of the month? Right away?

Basically I need some guidance since I do not have the cash to throw around willy nilly.
If I downgrade now with cancelling my account end of September as the reason, when will the downgrade take effect? This will determine if I should immediately subscribe to a new ISP or wait till 1 September.

Should be immediate with pro-rata billing. I was without a Telkom line for about a month and Mweb allowed me to downgrade from 4MB to email only mid-month.

I emailed. It's 2013. If they need a form filled out they can do it ghemselves.

I don't think downgrades are immediate. Think about it, you already paid the uncapped price for August on the 1st. They will not give refunds.
So downgrades will most probably be only for the 1st of Sept.

I have PM'd MWEB guy and mailed M-Web sales. Still waiting for the downgrade confirmation.

Can the downgrade be done via CP or must it be via a consultant?

Just have to call their billing for a downgrade. You have to return a cancellation form only for canceling the service none for the downgrade.

They can do an adjustment for the balance and offset it against next month of they push a calendar month.

I phoned for the downgrade - it's a special number: 021 596 8480. It comes into effect the 1st of September.

Edit: My downgrade that is, not the number! I was given that number as a direct line to the downgrades dept.

SO the bill I will receive the 1st of September will then be the downgrade price.

Now I have a bit of ease of heart to make the switch.

Nice thanks.

MWEB proving once again how archaic they are. I have never seen such a sloppy cancellation procedure such as this one, every other ISP I have ever been with has some decent form of User Control Panel.

They have literally destroyed every last bit of reputation they have built with me (and pretty much every other MyBB user). They have once again become that ISP that in my mind screws old ladies out of their hard earned pensions, because no one who knows anything about the Internet would stick with them.

Mweb was the first ( up til now ) ISP that i ever had to fill in a FORM...and then send it BACK...The other isp's just enable you...you pay...you get your stuff...end of story...
