No date for Android, iPhone BBM in SA: BlackBerry

On nearly all radio station in SA you hear the advertisement that BBM will be coming to Samsung devices soon. Quite ridiculous, since no timeline exists anymore… I also cannot see how the mishap that caused all this, is the reason that the App is not yet released.

It gets more and more laughable by the second. They're the most cringe-worthy business in the world right now. Their poor PR company must be at their wit's end...:D

Highly doubt BBM will be coming any time soon! Whoever will buy blackberry probably wants exclusive rights to BBM.

Long time ago I heard that BBM will be on SamSung this hasn't even materialized and by going this route, BlackBerry handset empire will crumble even faster, only reason why people have a blackberry is for bbm nothing else.

Times have changed WeChat,WhatsApp competition is very much alive and kicking, hope this is a wise move on their part.

I believe BBM was never going to launch. I think it was a elaborate scam by BB to create "value" to push up the purchase price. The new shareholder would pay extra for the "goodwill" because the company they're buying has "exciting" things happening in the market.

Elop did the opposite to Nokia... sis

Shameful if true but that's my theory.

Highly unlikely that such a blatant fraud would be perpetuated in the open like that. Very easy to get to the bottom of as well. Also don't forget that an app was available and did work for a short duration.

I believe that they absolutely intended to release it, but as usual, they cocked it up. They're not used to working on a shoestring budget...

It's not illegal and it happens everyday unless you're saying that Elop didn't purposely and blatantly bring Nokia's share price down to an all time low right out in the open. As open and blatant as taking a shat in the middle of the road!

Actually that would constitute fraud and the SEC would haul them over the coals. You cannot manipulate share price or deal value through fraudulent means, and announcing a product with no intention of releasing it, and every intention of manipulating deal value would be blatant fraud against all stakeholders...

Except that BBM for Android has already been used by over a million people.

I'm quite surprised the platform is being ported though. Quite literally, every single Blackberry user I've mentioned this to has said something to the effect of 'thank god I can finally get a decent phone'.

Well they ignore the only place where Blackberry was booming in its hay days! So much for loyalty, neh:sick:

The BBM adverts on the Radio "every 5min" is starting to really irritate me..
And no updates to it's release date yet.

from excitement, to anger, to disapointment, to I dont give a f**k

Sunday 22nd BBM rollout starts and then is put on hold because of the alleged "leaked" version causing server trouble.

Monday 23rd the news breaks that Blackberry has a buyer. Read between the lines and it is pretty convincing that the buyer demanded BBM exclusivity and put a stop to the roll out.

You forgot that on the 23rd they also announced that they're retrenching 40% of their staff. I doubt that'll help either.

Staff cut news was out on Friday 20th already. But yes, your point is very valid
