Voting selfie a criminal offence - anyone can lay a charge

Ironic that we fought for the vote for so long but it's still a criminal offence to be caught voting on camera :-)

By now you should realize this is a banana republic where stupid shyte is illegal.
They are also threatening people who took photos of their marked fingers and put that on FB
 
One of my Facebook "friends" posted a picture of his ID with both papers marked EFF, considered reporting him to remove stupid from pool for a few days...

The National ballot box at my voting station was badly damaged. The slot was torn open so much so that you could easily put your hand in the box and take ballot papers out. I mentioned this to the officials and they only laughed. Was not allowed to take a photo of it though.
 
After this became news, not only is my Facebook news feed flooded with people that took photos of their thumbs, there are also more of these kind of selfies than I'd like to see :( ****ing sheep.
 
Even though I have a gear2 I simply did not see the point.

I think it's because it's proof of how you voted. As long as there is no proof, there is no way to be forced under duress or provide evidence for a pay-off.
 
You are freely entitled to disclose you vote, in whatever medium you wish to do. No can force you, however. That penal provision is intended to regulate the latter.
 
Technically, a picture of a ballot is not a selfie, unless we believe the paper ballot took the picture of itself...Mrs Malaprop would be proud (or not notice)

Maybe the political avatars present on the ballot don't like surveillance cameras lurking over them...
