Web Africa launches R699 Managed (cPanel) Virtual Private Hosting

They should have made it R698 or R700. There are too many connotations to the amount of R699....

What's with this 50GB bandwidth? That's just ridiculous.

Yep, it is ridiculously low for the amount of money one pay. You would have to have a very small website, no more than 5 pages and less than 100 visitors per day in order to ensure your site does not go down - or you are hit with a massive bill at the end of the month.

Today, at least 1TB bandwidth should be the entry-level offering.

Hi,

The bandwidth allocation is quite competitive when comparing what other options are available from the other ISPs on their entry level product.

Hey Webafrica

I totally agree with you that your prices is competitive compared to other local packages. However, that is why large websites have to be hosted elsewhere as the bandwidth restrictions in this country is still primitive to say the least. These packages are ideal for a person who wants to start a few information pages for a business. Running an actual business on these servers will prove to be a costly exercise in future.

Hey, WebAfrica Helper

What's the deal of R300 setup fee for additional IP addresses?
That is a big deal breaker for anyone.

Really? If I'm paying R700pm I would expect more. My el-cheapo VPS has 50GB bandwidth. A quick Google search of competitors seems to reaffirm this:

Are these all local ISP or providers? I do see you quoted a local provider but the wrong service. This is a managed VPS service not normal VPS/cloud based services.

Like I stated in the previous reply we appreciate the feedback and are always looking at improving our services so you can expect some better packages going forward.

These are all local. I'm a bit confused as to why making it a managed service would result in getting less bandwidth though?

Hi DrJohnZoidberg,

The screenshots you provided are they all Managed VPS or just VPS hosting? We do offer plain VPS packages at link below which does have a higher allocation of resources but is managed yourself and does not include cPanel:

http://www.webafrica.co.za/hosting/vps/

With Managed VPS everything is handled from our end. We setup and configure your VPS which includes cPanel/WHM and provide support 24/7 so all Manged VPS customers need to worry about is their customers or business.
