What broadband speeds and technology you can expect from Telkom

My God it takes a genius to work that out.
Following the dictorial government is the tone as well.
 
The way the Internet is used changes a lot with time as well as the corresponding bandwidth requirements, even considering just the heavy rise of cell phone data usage over the last 5+ years with better web browsers etc. Since there's a limited time window when the assumptions made about bandwidth requirements per market segment are valid, did Telkom give any kind of time frame for this? Is it viewed as "where we want to be in 5 years" or "where we are/should be currently"? Telkom has historically had decent goals but then arrived to the party helluva late.
 
Telkom is going backwards... It has taken them over 4 Months to fix a Major Cable. I cannot wait for DFA to launch FTTH.
 
Looking at this article, I would assume Telkom have plans to move their LTE service off the 2.3GHz Band?

They seem to list LTE as 2.1GHz 3G/LTE & 800/900MHz LTE.

Just an observation.
 
Ok, so you make a list of all your products that you've not made available to everyone. You quantify/qualify them as if everyone has a choice as to which one they could use, in the most obvious, self explanatory way that shows you have as little insight into your customer's "potential" need as we do into the daily happenings of a YETI. You publish it with the fanfare that could only mean you are a monopoly and act as if you've cured Cancer and voalá, Telkom's gift to you, the world.

We should be thankful really, I mean, so much effort has gone into this mind numbing spillage, right?

I'm speechless. Telkom is really a big fat void.

So what they say is that if you stay in a small town you don't need much bandwidth. Only people in cities gated communities need huge amounts of it.

What they should say is that when a customer base is low, we don't want to supply them with huge amounts of bandwidth.

apprently in the burbs I only need 40 meg .. I really didnt know that.. glad they cleared it up

makes sense, considering my exchange supports up to 4Meg .. did they just take all the current max speeds and multiply by 10 ??
 
The way I see it, if you're not in a gated community, then no FTTH for you. Even if you live next to the gated community.
What a stupid setup they're planning.
This just open the door for other companies to provide FTTH for wealthy un-gated suburbs.

Just give the best that the infrastructure supports, end of story.
 
Ahh so according to Telkom Robindale is a Rural area. Nice :)
