China to produce homegrown operating system

China could have a new homegrown operating system by October to take on imported rivals such as Microsoft Corp, Google Inc and Apple Inc, Xinhua news agency said on Sunday
 
Lets hope this is not like Chinese cars - cheap rip-offs of their Western counterparts.

They are very optimistic to produce and deploy an Operating System in such a short time.

He said he hoped domestically built software would be able to replace desktop operating systems within one to two years and mobile operating systems within three to five years.

The only way that is going to happen is if they develop a virus that seek and destroy all Windows systems.
 
Cool.

Wonder if it'll support L2R Latin script languages, or will you have to type in Ching glyphs.

I thought they already have their own version of Ubuntu with Kylin?

China is only good with copying stuff, not creating it.

I suspect it will just be a copy of a Linux distro.

What about a nice distributed network for crypto-currency processing? Some hackers are doing it with their cracks/installs for games and software

Bottom point is that given their (China's) past history, the government will take advantage of its citizens, will monitor its citizens and enforce some form of nanny state rules (like they do in Korea).

LOL, but fail.
Japanese cannot pronounce the L and it phonetically (?) sounds like an R.
Chinese languages (Mandarin/Cantonese) cannot pronounce the R and it phonetically (?) sounds like an L.
