Samsung Galaxy S6

Downloading the update as well on the regular S6.

Regular S6 with different firmware, right?

I've kept my regular S6 from Vodacom stock, and it is STILL on 5.0.2 and telling me during OTA upgrade checks that I've got the latest updates installed *facepalm*

So annoyed with Vodacom right now. I'm guessing this might be connected with the story I read about how Vodacom is working on new firmware with Samsung to roll out their new Voice-over-Wifi offering, but still!

I'll ask again, does anybody running with MTN, CellC or Telkom Mobile have access to something better than 5.0.2 through the stock OTA update option?

Just download a non-branded stock firmware from sammobile.com.

Let us know about any changes
The new update includes the following:

These new features include Samsung Pay, new icons and overall improved user interface, Apps Edge, and UHQ upscaler and Vacuum Tube Amp Pro for better audio. Samsung has also added a minor update to KNOX, no doubt as a result of the addition of Samsung Pay.

I've also noticed the inclusion of live youtube broadcast in the camera app now, and new Samsung Gear features.

Samsung has finally changed their ancient icons too

CellC and Telkom push updates before MTN and Vodacom, as they don't bloatware their firmwares.

I thought so. But look at these crazy statements I've just received via online chat from a Vodacom support rep:

BS. Vodacom or Samsung push out the OTA's. Not Google. Google release the update to OEM's who release to carriers, they test / load their software and push out the OTA.

Google only push out their own OTA's on Nexus devices.

Vodacom OR Samsung? So which is it?

Both. All. Google says "Here's an update, we think it's awesome." Sends to OEM> OEM(Samsung) Goes "Really? Let's see if it plays nice with The Wiz... Okay it does, now that we messed with it a bit." Sends to Network > Vodacom goes but will people feel The VodaSauce within? Let's fiddle a bit..

Honestly, the best thing I did was flash it with a stock (United Kingdom) samsung rom.
Not only do I have to not deal with the stupid Vodacom crap and load up screen. But I'm' getting updates as soon as samsung is releasing them.

Vodacom is slow with its updates. I asked 1 and a half months ago when they'd release the 5.1.1 and I'm still waiting for an answer. Now there have been a total of 2-3 updates over and above 5.1.1 and Vodacom is still dragging their feet.

Edit: (Its been posted before, but here's a step by step process)
And to the above poster, the updates work like this:
1) Google releases the update source
2) The manufacturers take the source and adapt it to their phones (Eg, Samsung)
3) They then push the updates to the service providers, who then tinker with it (Eg vodacom)
4) Update is then pushed by the service provider (If they get around to doing it)

I didn't read your guys message, :P my bad

Edit:
Lay it out better next time though.
Concise, bulleted information is better than slapping a whole paragraph.

Also no need to jump down my throat gents.
