Good day guys, in November I ordered some stuff from www.dx.com, this is the first time ever I've ordered something internationally, and got some questions. According to the tracking service, the items arrived in South Africa end of November, but I didn't get a local tracking number, I thought I could just use the international one, as such, I had no idea how far along the line my delivery was. This morning, I discovered https://www.aftership.com/courier/sapo which actually shows me what the progress is locally, unlike http://globaltracktrace.ptc.post/gtt.web/ WHICH IS WHERE THE POST OFFICE WEBSITE DIRECTS ME

Anyway, after two months of having no idea what was going on, Aftership informed me that my first parcel was in "Detention Notice" since 19 December, and on 15 January, it was put in transit. The second parcel is still currently in Detention Notice and has been since 23 January. Is the one parcel on it's way now, or are they sending it back? What is a Detention Notice? When I tried to trace my stuff from the post office with the international number, they said they couldn't. So much for that. Shipping method was EMS. Any help would be appreciated, thanks

Sounds like its sitting in customs and they will let you know how much bribe money you must pay to release it. Notification probably got lost somewhere.

I also ordered 2 packages in early november, my brother ordered at the end of november and he got his 2 weeks before me. Mine arrived a week ago but I'm still waiting for my 2nd one to arrive.

Just checked according to the site the package I recieved arrived at jhb mail centre 2 weeks after the one I'm still waiting for, its probably luck of the draw as to how long it takes and wheather or not they feel like charging you customs

The Post Office strike severely impacted the delivery time for my foreign parcels. Usually my parcels from China would take about a month to be delivered but the stuff I ordered in October was only delivered in Jan.

I just received my notification for Mini in the Box parcel that I ordered late Nov 2014

Alright, I sent an e-mail to customs, and a detention notice means that your parcel has been detained due to a lack of an invoice, you need to send them the tracking number and a copy of the invoice so that they can process it, both of my packages are now hopefully on their way :)
