Opinions on Mecer Inverter

I have a Mecer Inverter UPS at home. And the fan runs all the time. I had it in my bedroom and eventually moved it out because of the fan.

Any shortcuts to switch on and off to avoid the fan noise when power cuts are not nearby?

Must say mine switched over to battery without even a flicker on the tv screen..
Not too sure how to tell if my battery is charged ?
Think I'll just unplug until Gridwatch sends a message.

My Mecer (2400VA) UPS with 2x batteries just arrived. Did not know the fan was going to run the whole time. I know the Mecer smaller UPS's fan switches off when on main power, and fan running with the beeping when on battery.

it's charging. fan will stop when it's charged

Dont mean to railroad this topic - but was wondering - how does one go about wiring this specific inverter in to the mains DB?

@Sinbad……re the fan. My setup bought yesterday has had it's first real charge. Been on now for 5 hours with the green light flashing as it should.
Flashing changed to solid green 15 minutes ago but the fan is still running. Manual says solid green is charged.
Rest of the screen as follows;
Input /Output both at 230
Battery 4 white squares - Load 1 white square
AVR icon white but not flashing

This is in Line mode, plugged into power ( no damn shedding when I want to test my new toy!!)

Should/will the fan go off at all ?

Hi, Also thinking of getting me this instead of a small inverter. I already have a solar panel (80w) with a charge controller. Would It be a issue If I connect the solar panel to the battery (via the charge controller), to charger the battery instead of plugging the Mecer inverter in eskom power?

Do you need 2 batteries fro the 2400VA 24v UPS to work? or can you only use 1x12v battery?

Yes you need 24v.. you can always use 2x smaller batteries as long as the voltage is 24 (well that's what my manual says)

Thanks, I guess I'll go with the 1200 VA inverter. should be sufficient for a lcd tv and a few led's.

Mecer/Mustek just confirmed that the fan is always on. Says it slows down when on battery only. I have not tested that yet.

ps I wrote to their customer support and they phoned back in 20 minutes !!!!! ;)
