DStv’s monopoly must be ended

I rckon they can likely keep their service running for a longer period than the others as they were already content licence holders. I do however wonder if digital distribution requires a fee per view (like music) or flat rate for access to content (like broadcast). Also wonder if per view cost model is still new to the video content holders.. and what Netflix use vs what Apple trying to push

Err . . . on premium content! Read carefully.

I did, but when it comes to anything vaguely to do with monopolies and overpriced services, Telkom should just sit in the corner and say nothing. They're far FAR worse than Multichoice has ever been. DSTV's monopoly means some people can't get some meaningless entertainment. Telkom's monopoly has costed the country uncountable rands and caused us to be 10 years behind the rest of the world in telecoms.

Until there is a competitor that has any meaningful content Multichoice will continue to be the market leader.
People vote with their Wallets.
Telkom also has no room to speak regarding MONOPOLIES.
The SABC is in turmoil . CADRE deployment at its highest level.

Multichoice has a sound business model and the others haven't a clue on how to run a business.

They must create a law that any sport that has an South African participating in it cannot sell sole broadcasting rights, and must be sold to multiple entities or the sport is not allowed to be solely broadcast on a paid for subscription. This way you are forcing competition and if there is non then the sport is free to the public.

So the players/ participants won't be paid as well, never going to happen.

That will never happen because the Entity selling the content will also sell to the highest bidder.
Its called a free market.
That then negates the MONOPOLY argument because then you are telling the entity who they can and cant sell to.

One monopoly calling out another.... LMAO....

Again, I had to check if it's April 1st.

Firstly, Telkom complaining about a monopoly. That's about as off as that stash of "fresh" meat they found that was butchered in the 70's.
Secondly, Telkom, AKA Monopoly #1, actually had a license to run Telkom Media, where they invested (read: wasted) R7-billion in the process, tried nothing, achieved nothing and gave up.

So now they ask ICASA of all organisations, to act and break up this monopoly that Telkom was actually allowed to compete with but didn't. In addition, Telkom has been the biggest stumbling block in this country single-handedly ensuring that the digital age is controlled by their monopoly for years and years and then some more.

Of course, similar to the big four in metal (Metallica, Anthrax, Slayer and Megadeth), we have Telkom, SANRAL, Eskom & Spoornet really shafting us like the disc jockey from hell, flipping us over to play the B-side too.

So, Mr. Sipho Maseko, aka too poor to be legal on number plates. How about a nice hot cup of go .... yourself.
