Telkom results – massive mobile data growth, fixed lines declining

Telkom has published its interim results for the six months ended 30 September 2015, which show a strong growth in mobile data revenue.

Personally I do not believe Telkom's lies in massive mobile growth.

They are forcing most people into mobile now. In my neighbourhood they no longer allow broadband or new Telkom landlines. You can only get the wireless fixed-line look-a-likes.

I have read and heard about many more such claims that people cannot get broadband in many areas.

The main reason Telkom gives: cable theft.

How does any of that prove that they are lying about mobile growth? This is a serious accusation.

Telkom is lying because people are not willingly going to their mobile. They are forcing their own existing and new clients onto this platform.

This is a serious allegation, one I can personally back with telephone recordings and e-mail conversations.

To start off, Telkom Mobile does not even offer mobile data in most neighbourhoods around the country. Yet, the force you onto their mobile platform if you need a landline. if asked about Internet access (as they do not have data available) they simply refer one to Vodacom or MTN. Yes, I do have recordings of their operators telling me this.

So, there you have it. They are not really lying about an increase, but it is a forced increase of people who do not really want to be there. But, if you need a telephone, you have no other option.

1. They arent forcing you to do anything.
2. If their mobile base has grown because of "being forced", its still growth and they are not lying.

1. They are forcing. We were told that we cannot get a landline unless we take the wireless phone.
2. Yes, artificially though. If any mobile operators should ever come down with their fees for phone calls matching that of Telkom, Telkom will fall and all investors will see their investments fly out the window.

I'm sure they are realizing their vision & happy about it
