MTN may be hit with another massive fine

MTN just aren't getting anything right these days and have completely dropped the ball in so many different areas especially being competitive in SA.

Quite shocking.

Shame emptyN, should you decide to increase data prices to cover losses due to incompetence, you can pretty much shove it.
I have no sympathy, not even going to bat an eyelid, this is what you get for shafting clients ;) Now bend over please. !

Eish, bad news for SA (that share price is gonna drop).

Can't say I feel too much sympathy for MTN themselves, but the indirect effects are another story.

At this rate Mtn will be bankrupt soon. I do not like mtn and they do have crappy at most spots I need internet. I just don't hope they do go down they are giving a lot of people jobs.

lol.

In before all the white knights arrive and tell us what Cameroon just trying to bolster their economy.

huh?

This case seems to be legitimate. Although there's very little info. There could be every chance that the fine is exorbitant, or it could be fair. We have no way of knowing until we get more info.

MTN said they don't know about the fine.

This is the second time news broke before management knew anything.

I think shareholders should receive the message by now.

Great time for investors... Buy low and keep.

MTN has a huge market share across Africa, they have invested heavily and will recover.

Pity that shareholders have to take the ebbs with the flows......

Meh... they probably won't pay it either. Maybe third country lucky.

The lifting of sanctions against Iran was discussed on TV this morning. Immediately, the issue of the corruption case against MTN in Iran came up. So what do we now assume about MTN?

Iran corruption case
Nigerian fine issue
Cameroon corruption allegation?

Seems to me MTN have a big credibility problem. And why should market share be taken into account at all?

Ja for those with a bucket full of money that they are prepared to risk, it could turn into the bargain of the year/century?

Will they recover though? If they do, how long will it take? Will they be able to provide a reasonable ROI to investors?

What happens if a few more of these countries pop up with billion Rand fines?

Its not like their management inspires much confidence...
