As the title reads I am looking for a new mouse.

I currently use the Magic Trackpad on my mac but am looking for a mouse to replace it. I don't game often at all but need something that is comfortable to use for many hours at a time and fits nice in my hand.

I am posting in the PC thread as I might be moving back to a Windows machine for work.

I have heard gaming mice are great for accuracy when working with code and long documents but really am lost so any help will be great?

Have you got any suggestions?

You didn't post a budget:

Corsair Raptor Series M45 Optical Gaming Mouse - Black

Corsair Gaming SABRE Optical RGB Gaming Mouse

Honestly don't have a budget at the moment, more just want to see what the suggestions are.

As mentioned I don't game on PC / Mac at all but like I said I have heard gaming mice are better to use.

I suppose whatever the best I can get for roughly R1000 then? I just want something that will be comfortable for long periods of time and with little lag etc?

I use a Logitech M705 with my laptop, best mobile mouse imo..

Big fan of Logitech products in general. I also have the M705 for work. They battery life claims they make, feel free to believe them. My batteries (Duracell) are about 2.5 years old. And according to Setpoint have about 35 more days left in them...Might be a bit small depending on what you like though.

I use the Logitech Performance MX at home and and really love that mouse! That is the mouse I use for gaming and everything else that is not work related.

So depending on what your hand is like and what it is you are looking for those would be my two suggestions...

Logitech M705, the only problem on both of mine is the wheel is not balanced and when used without the ratched it creeps until the heaviest part is rotated to the bottom.

Holy Carp! I must be doing something wrong on the interwebs.

My R100 mouses do just fine.

Speaking of mouses, I've so far caught three in my garage. Well, caught isn't entirely accurate. One was dead from the rattex, one was partially alive from having it's hind quarters stuck in a trap, and one was completely folded in half in another trap.

My question, is what is good bait to catch the wee bastards?

And seriously? The OP isn't a big time gamer, but he (or she/it) wants to unload R1k on a mouse? WTF?

And woe is me, I just looked down, and I'm using a Logitech mouse of some description. To be fair, I didn't purchase this particular rat. It arrived when my wife moved in.

Edit: It's a Logitech M305. In pink mind you.

First off, a lot of the cheaper mice that are sold as gaming mice are not actually anything of the sort.

If you are looking for one that is comfortable over long periods of time then chances are that you want one that is made for a palm grip. My personal preference for palm grip is a mouse that is longer than 13 cm, but some of the others here may have more specific recommendations. Here is an example of this type of mouse: https://steelseries.com/gaming-mice/rival-300

This is probably the most comfortable mouse I have ever used, if you can get used to the funky way that it works: https://secure.logitech.com/en-za/product/wireless-trackball-m570?crid=7. Interestingly the Lifehacker site had people vote on the best gaming mice and this one came in on the top five list. Seems like they find that a thumb flick is quicker than moving the whole forearm.

Ma se hare,

They used to cost R 899.. see they are well over R1400 now, madness

I don't have a recommendation for you but why are people suggesting a mobile mouse, this will be for a desktop PC right?

+1 got the same - use it on my desktop at home but originally was on my laptop
logitech have an awesome range and very comfortable for long term use

on my laptop i now have one of those win 8 mouses that can scroll left and right etc - cant remember the exact model T something anyway it was priced at R899 and although its comfortable i still prefer the M705
