I need a new mouse

I won't be buying Razer again... I bought a Razer Imperator in March 2010, one of its issues is the infamous double clicking problem. I had this same issue with my Razer made Microsoft branded Habu gaming mouse a few years before that.

The Imperator barely works on my old desktop PC (old quad core with Asus mobo) or my new desktop PC (i7 with Asus mobo). When plugged into the PC it doesn't track properly, it seems to get stuck really badly, that's using a Razer ExactMat mousepad...

The tracking issue is not present when I use it on my old i7 Dell laptop or new Lenovo i5 laptop, so now I use the Imperator on the Lenovo for work and back home on PC I use a Logitech G400 which I bought in 2012 (August). No issues with the Logitech thus far.

Why would the Imperator be OK on laptops but not on desktop PCs?

What you think? Im not looking for a debate regarding wired and wireless just looking for a good mouse (from takealot as I have vouchers). What you think about those choices or are there something better?

I would take Logitech above all of those brands. You haven't listed one, yet 90% of the feedback in this thread is go Logitech.

As mentioned, I need to buy from TakeAlot and they don't have any great Logitech models there. Maybe later this year I will look at Logitech again from other stores but for now I need to buy from TakeAlot. My PC budget is way over already so cash is a little tight for other accessories.

I would ask them to source you a G400. I can't think of a reason why they shouldn't be able to.

Assuming you're a righty, it's a much better design than the others which are ambidextrous.

Perhaps buy some toiletries/etc. from Takealot instead of Pick n Pay, then you can buy elsewhere?

I just saw how ridiculous even mouse prices have become, a G400s cost three times what I paid for mine last year.

Tell that to Razer with their double clicking crap mice that sells for R800+. Price is not always an indication of quality, you pay for brand names and cool stuff.

Edit I just googled that double click issue again and seems that some of it is software related that can be fixed by firmware. Should actually try it with one of my old Razers.

Yeah but that's Razer. They're known for making cool **** that breaks in 6 months.

Do your research next time.

There are always exceptions to every rule.

Loved my Razer Lycosa Keyboard, but endless driver issues and then one day it just stopped working.

What's the average lifespan of a razor mouse? If it's like 2 years, then I would be wary of them.

Pretty much as long as the length of a piece of string.

Generally speaking though, Razer products are not good quality.

Not really. I've used three different brands now where the micro switches started failing.

For instance http://www.amazon.com/D2FC-F-7N-Switch-Microswitch-Switches-Logitech/dp/B00HPL57JQ

These micro switches are used in Logitech/Razer and Apple

For example...http://forums.logitech.com/t5/Logitech-G-Mice/G7-Double-Clicking-Issue/td-p/279839

I should just order some and solder on new switches each time. Anyway my point is that even the expensive ones have these issues. Just google it.

My 2 year old roccat kone pure failed on me this week. A piece of plastic under the left mouse button chipped-off and so it can make contact with the button underneath :/

I had a Logitech G7 that started to double click, but this was after years of use, Logitech just works for my hand and grip I use. It's sad Takealot don't really have them anymore.
