Depending when you set your router, peak usage will be recorded only from 00h30. So near the end of the month I ran out of capped data as I set my daily downloading is from midnight and n that 30min 1 to 0.5 Gigs was recorded as peak on a daily basis.

Although they acknowledged the problem CW did not refund the lost peak data and left me no choice to pay up for top up data. It clearly states on their web site free data from midnight. This is false advertising as it is not accurate and misleading.

I am not sure if it is only this ISP problem, so broadbanders best to set auto downloads from 00h31 (or reset your router on the hour but this is not really practical),:twisted:

CW use Telkom radius accounting to calculate your usage. Telkom does not send that data on the hour, but rather sometime during the hour.
DJ... has publicly stated this, and suggested that people set the downloads to start at 1am, not 12am.

Should be on the website not a forum... Imo.

Wow that sucks. I did not know about this issue. I might have lost a fair bit of data due to this.

Seems a much better approach for CW to set their system to have uncapped data from 11pm then? That way customers will absolutely be uncapped from midnight, and the cost to CW during such a late hour will surely be negligible.

If all the other ISP's can do it from midnight and have it calculated correctly surely CW can figure it out, otherwise it really is false advertising.

And you know that all the other ISPs do it from midnight, how? Do they drop the customer's connection at 00h00 and start their metering?

I don't specifically know they do it from midnight but I do know it is calculated correctly because I have used the after hours data from Vox, Afrihost and Web Africa, also the other ISP's mentioned in this thread from other forumites, and not a single bit of data was counted after midnight, however they do it behind the scenes I don't know but surely CW can figure it out instead of just recommending people to rather start it from 1am to be safe.
