I may have asked this previously ?
Went back some way in the posts but did not find anything
Maybe I never got an answer ?

The Question /s

Physical Networkls
1.)
How many NO's are there in SA that are installing fibre ?
Names and contact details

2.)
How many are area dependent -- ie only install in JHBG or CPT ?

3.)
How many are National -- eg DFA ?

Network Technology
4.)
How many are using P2P / AE / ME ?

5.)
How many are using GPON ?

6.)
How many are using something else ?

Perhaps such a list already exists ?

Are you just looking for the access providers or the core infrastructure as well?

If access - FTTH only or business as well?

Do you want to know about the layer-0, -1 or -2 networks? Lots of different models for how the different networks co build and do infrastructure sharing.

Everything

Thanks for reply
Basically everything -- I have made learning everything about fibre my new years resolution :)
So I am looking for the SA Fibre "Encyclopedia"

So lets just start at the beginning

Core Infrastructure providers

Openserve
DFA
Neotel
Vodacom
MTN
??????

Access Providers
Frogfoot
Vumatel
?????

ALL of the FTTX ( FTTH , FTTP , FTTN -- .... )

Never knew there was a -- "layer 0" ???
Yes please -- ALL the layers ( I see many FTT's are layer two -- WHERE does the routing take place ( layer three )
As well as the PON / AE side of things
In essence I suppose a who's who / what's what of SA fibre
The type of article MyBB should be producing .........

Best laid Plans ...

Well don't ask staff writer to do it unless you're into massive disappointments.
Thanks for the heads up :crylaugh:

All that "Staff-Writer" has to do is COMMISSION someone else ( some industry expert ) to do it
Just NOT Afrihost ( there will be an avalanche of complaints again )

There is enough "meat" in the idea to keep it running for awhile
and
MILLIONS in advertising revenue IF done PROPERLY !

Maybe SOMEONE needs to start a -- MyFTTH website ?????????

AFAIK all the providers use GPON except for Vumatel which uses Active Ethernet.

Physical Networkls
1.)
How many NO's are there in SA that are installing fibre ?

Layer1's (Physical Fibre)

Vumatel (JHB and CT)
Openserve (National)
TTConnect (JHB)
SADV (JHB and CT)
Octotel (CT)
Cybersmart (CT)
MTN (National)
Vodacom (National)
Neotel (National)
MFN (JHB)
Link Africa (National)

Layer2 Providers:

Frogfoot FTTH
Mitsol FTTH

And a whole lot of other providers that use DFA in general, most operators will use DFA one way or another to link their networks.

2.)
How many are area dependent -- ie only install in JHBG or CPT ?

As per above

3.)
How many are National -- eg DFA ?

As per above

Network Technology
4.)
How many are using P2P / AE / ME ?

All metros use AE which is basically ME, most FTTH are PON deployments apart from Vumatel, TT Connect and Cybersmart us AE. Vumatel now buying Fibrehoods also uses PON for the aerial fibre.

5.)
How many are using GPON ?

As per above.

6.)
How many are using something else ?

None
