Does anyone pay eToll as I am about to stop paying.

Hi, as a good citizen I have paid my eToll for a while. But I wonder how many people/percent actually pay this.

There seems to be no recourse whatsoever from Sanral or updates from government to enforce this, so why should I pay..

I have decided to stop paying them due to lack of proper management. Your thoughts if you are paying as well?

honestly do not know anyone who actually pays. no idea why you were paying in the first place.
 
You do realize you have helped fund holidays / cars / whiskey / escorts with your money?

Have never and will never pay for something I never agreed to / wasn't asked about / already pay for via my contribution to the fuel tax.

a good citizen will not pay bribes.
etolls are sanctioned bribes to cover government corruption.
so in my opinion, paying etoll makes you not be a good citizen.

We're paying for these things all the time anyway, via the extortionate fuel levies(to which you alluded to already), car license renewals etc. E-tolls just happens to be the one we're able to avoid willingly.
 
Been driving a rental for about 2 weeks now and it has that etag thingy, how does that beep not bug people that have it in their normal cars, I want to instinctively go to the screen to see if its a fault that recorded. Personally don't have an etag. Just a question the guys that have been paying for it, haven't they signed the terms and conditions with SANRAL already and there were rumors that they could take up non payment from these members.

You might want to find out how to get yourself out of the contract you signed when you opened your account first. It's a lot easier to not pay having never entered into an agreement with Sanral than not paying and being subject to it and bound by its terms and conditions.

U shud also think about that TV licence.. :)
 
The sooner everyone stops paying this crap, the quicker we can just flush this entire turd down the chute.
 
I know we're all very cocky about not paying e-tolls(including myself), but what are the chances of legislation passing that would force us to pay, or we go to jail, and we won't be able to do anything about it?

The chances are higher while some people are paying.
I would say that the whole system is more likely to be cancelled when NOBODY is paying.
