Hi Everyone,

My MTN cell phone contract is due to end this month and as I don't want another phone, I'm very happy with the S23 Ultra that I have, so I'm debating whether to convert to a 'pay as you go' number.

I mostly use my office wifi data and most of my calls are on WhatsApp. I've had cell contracts for many years but three long years on this contract and with annual price increases by MTN I'm really thinking of just changing to pay as you go.

What are people's thoughts on changing from a contract to pay as you go?

I haven't had a cellphone contract for a phone in at least 10 years. I am prepaid and buy my phone cash.

I lot of cellphone contract have sms and minutes included in the deals for which I can zero need for.

I use Black Friday to get good data deals on the go. Can't see myself getting a cellphone contract again.

Pay as you go.

Most months l, I don’t even bother buying data because I have WiFi at home and I used office WiFi at work. The only time I’m unreachable by internet is when I’m not at home or not at work. In which case, I would rather concentrate on what I’m doing outside of home or work anyway. I’m still reachable the old fashion way if it can’t wait.

Try AirMobile, month to month so sort of Pay as you go without the manual topup hassle, can still do so if need but I'm in a similar boat and the Air 2 for R49 ( 2Gb + R20 air ) is plenty for the out of wifi gaps.

Go prepaid and then move your MTN number to Air Mobile for the best rates on the MTN network.

This.

When will air mobile support WiFi calling...?

I believe the old non-air mobile afrihost still allows it (as its just mtn, with an apn for data?.

Get away from MTN however you can.
Cancel the contract and go payg, then move to a more ethical network.

When you say it does not support wifi calling does that include not allowing whatsapp calls? Also considering cancelling my MTN contract and switching to air mobile 5 as the amount of data MTN gives you is pathetic.

Pay As You Go or just month to month, I haven't 'renewed' or 'upgraded my contract since 2018, I can't stomach financing a phone so just use hand me down's from whomever.

It all depends on your alliance -Do you support:-
Al-Qaeda, ISIS, Hamas, and the Taliban
