Except when communicating with the 99% of your contacts who use whatsapp and not telegram. Then use whatsapp.

Some will always be behind the curve. Same thing happened when Henry gave us the Ford. The masses were like "A what?? No thank you. We prefer our horse drawn".

Sometimes the majority will choose the inferior product because the difference makes no difference to the average user. In the case of whatsapp vs telegram the majority of people don't care that much about the added security of telegram or the file sharing so for all intents and purposes telegram is just a clone of whatsapp and they and everyone they know has been using whatsapp for years so why switch?

Abraham Lincoln once said: curve or no curve, you can't talk to your horse unless the mare has the same app as you on her communication device..
 
I'm made happier by the recent addition of bold, strikethrough etc. than file sharing.

Or you can use the desktop client which doesn't even need your phone to be connected to work. :whistle: The desktop client is, at least for me, one of the biggest reasons why I prefer Telegram over Whatsapp.

By that logic no one should ever try new platforms, and we'd all still be on Mxit.

Around 1.5 years ago I had no Telegram contacts. Now I'm two family contacts away from being able to delete WhatsApp. People have been very quick to switch across, such is the superiority of Telegram.

But if the need arose it's very useful, although it's usually used to send files to yourself. In Telegram you have yourself as a contact, and you can store messages and media. Really nice for moving files quickly between platforms, storing links you want to check out later or storing something important for the near future.

E.g. Rather than needing your phone on hand to connect to your PC to transfer some files, just send them to yourself with the Telegram desktop app. They'll just chill there until you need them or delete them.
 
Telegram is boss. Love that I can use on pc with phone off. Our companies ticketing system runs a bot on telegram. Soon our support for customers will be via a bot as well

I have seen nothing to support that and I'd wager that to the average user it's six of one, half a dozen of the other.

I'd also wager that if you weren't the driving force behind your family's adoption of Telegram they'd still [happily] be using whatsapp. TBH though... 1.5 years doesn't exactly sound like a spontaneous or quick adoption.

If the need arose there are also a plethora of other options available. Wetransfer (with it's 2gb limit) springs to mind as does Dropbox, Google Drive, etc etc etc.
