So, they basically stopped selling 7 in 2015 (apart from corporates, presumably) and gave free upgrades and they are still at only 50%?
Do they count my Win10 installation that is basically managing UEFI on behalf of my Ubuntu laptop?

This is my opinion though.
When a pc/laptop is replaced with a broken/stolen/outdated one, it is preloaded with Windows 10 and thus the customer have no other choice of operating system and Windows 10 is forced upon then.
I get daily complaints and dissatisfaction from customers that I have supplied with a new machine. They even want me to downgrade them to Windows 7, but can't do that without voiding the warranty and without loading an illegal copy.
So Micro$oft should get their facts/figures straight as that adoption figures are based on mostly new machine sales preloaded with Windows 10 and it is forced upon the end user.

I think the biggest issue is the replenishment of dated laptops. I got issued a new one and it's got Win 10 on it. I want to farking throw this thing into a thousand pieces...
Microsoft protected themselves from downgrading to Windows 7, as staring from Kaby Lake CPU there there are no drivers. There is no drivers for Windows 8.1 too.I get daily complaints and dissatisfaction from customers that I have supplied with a new machine. Many Win8 installations which are still supported until 2023 around as well. So 50% conversion rate is pretty good. Once corporates migrate things will change even more but it's a slow process. And then there's all the old hardware which will never run win10.
I'm mostly happy with win10, my biggest gripe is with updates and the actual update mechanisms & inflexibility. I've never had any real issues though.
Just installed RS4 RTM spring creators update and it's really fast. Not sure what MS did but great stuff.

....but now I love it!
Not reliable source, double posts, MS propaganda. How many times have heard the same?+1
I wasn't forced, I created a dual boot setup on my laptop just thinking I'll give 10 a bash..never looked back.
Was on 7 for years and years....never bothered with 8.
Firstly, and most crucially for me, it's is far less of a mem hog than 7.
After bootup and disabling of unnecessary services, removing apps from startup, etc i'm left with +- 3Gb available RAM as opposed to 1.5Gb on Win7.

Will wait...

Coming from Sajunky, that's quite funny.
And it's obvious SA-UK's post is an opinion, but W10 is better than W7 for lower RAM due to memory compression.
