Does FNB's online debit order function:
- work at all?
- work during specific times?
- force you to call the call centre to get charged the fee?
NB. debit amount is R150.

Yep, and the error above is what I received. If you log into the FNB online portal, go to debit orders (and you will see dispute buttons next to the debit orders)
I believe online reversals only work on debits R100 or less

R200 or less. More and it's branch visit / call centre.

Unlikely. Anyway I was pointing out the amount. From 2016 to now the rules could and most likely did change.
So MTN SP debited my account. I am not a customer and have never been.
I called FNB, selected the debit order reversal dept and they processed the reversal. They offered to put me through to fraud, I accepted. Fraud pretty much told me that they (FNB) are just a 3rd party with regards to debit orders and it's my problem to contact the company deducting the money. How on earth is this now my problem? Surely they should be in possession of signed paperwork where I have authorised the debit order?
Teach me master. After some back and forth I was eventually refunded the reversal fee.
