iBurst reduces migration fee

Still a complete load of bollocks....

Iburst should do what VC did and just migrate everyone to the new prices.. not charge people to migrate to them...

DAMN straight - it comes down to who did unto whom: if >I< wanna change the existing contract, it's on me to pay for that - if they change it, that's no fault of mine and they can bloodywell carry the can on it!

Even if they move me "gratis" to the new lower pricing structure I am still not renewing my contract. They have brought this upon themselves.

Seriously.... anybody staying at Iburst after this have nobody to blame but themselves. I say make their client base 0

Playing Devil's Advocate here, but don't the cell phone companies charge a migration fee when you want to change the type of contract you have? Why is everyone so outraged when iBurst does the same? I mean don't they have admin costs to cover to migrate people? Just being Devil's Advocate...please don't shoot me :D

If anything a company should reward loyalty or look after its customers.
If they reduce prices for new signups surely old customers should benefit from the same rates? As for admin fees, how much will they loose if the customer quits altogether?

The Cell phone industry in SA is corrupt IMHO.

I agree. My point is, why is iBurst getting all the flak? Surely the cell phone companies should be excoriated as well?

I'm also going to add something to this.

When last did Telkom respond to any user complaints!!!!!!!!! They even overruled ICASA on price reductions.

At least Iburst saw the problem and responded. I'm on the 3Gig @ R599 option at Iburst. The new pricing gives me 5Gig for R599. I choose to go to a different package. They are not lowering the current package fees, they are changing the Bandwidth Usage allowed!

What's your options.
1. Telkom ....
2. Vodacom & MTN with 3G
3. Iburst.

Which one has the better service??? I'm going with IBURST .
I was with Telkom and 3G is way more expensive.....

Don't get me wrong..... I would not choose one of these companies in any other country, but we have to do with what we've got!!!!!!!

Charging a migration fee, is somewhat acceptable, but saying that current clients must migrate to get the benefits of the price reductions on new packages is just rubbish.

Vodacom reduced their prices and ALL users benefited without being charged a migration fee..

The concept of loyalty seems to fallen by the wayside, not only with IFP's but as a general business concept.
"IFP's" I'm going to assume you meant ISPs :p.

As a consumer, I don't believe in being loyal towards any company that one pays in exchange for a product or service - no need to be a martyr to a company for the sake of some misplaced sense of loyalty, furthermore, companies generally only quantify loyalty after a high paying customer takes their money to a competitor.

exactly. if you choose to move then so be it be charged. but if they restructure their packages, you should not be charged. look at telkom, even they moved their 512kbps clients on 1GB accounts to do2 or something for free

ya it's BS... when they introduced the new packages users were automatically moved to the various packages... now they reduced the fee and they feel we should get charged for it? It's still a SLAP in the face I tell you!
