VGA (15port) - RCA (Video Jack)

I am looking for an converter for my laptop, as it only has a 15port VGA output for display (besides the screen of course) and no S-Video output.

The cable has the normal VGA plug like a monitor, and then on the other end RCA type plug, that you would plug into your TV to get picture and watch movies on your tv. :D

iv seen it on an website over seas... but that does help me much :( ... any 1 know where i can get my hands on one in cape town? or how i would go about cutting a plug off a monitor and joining which wires where? haha...

hope some one can help.

No. Won't work, and doesn't exist. The VGA signal and the composite signal are different - you'll need some kind of converter box to do this.

Still no luck...

Hey, does any body else know where i can get an cable like so or an adapter "box" that will work....

iv mailed a few emails off and sent a few sms's and a few phone calls... but no luck :(

i would be greatfull 4 any help :o

Thanks

Computer Mania

Er...he did say.....

...he wants to convert VGA to RCA.... not many reasons to do this.

Main one would be to watch your divx movies on your tv!!!

My buddy peering over my shoulder right now wants the same solution and I'm giving him the same advice, geta Divx Player! No, not a divx DVD player.

MVIX, Playtime, etc. make wondeful products, fit in whatever harddisk you want, enjoy!

I think he means something like this:

I had a few lying around that I got from the UK, but all gone now - best bet is to get from overseas - you will spend a lot of time trying to find here in SA...remember though that your laptop must have TV out to use these adapters...

As mentioned above, the other option is a MVIX player - work very well as dedicated streamer boxes...

No.

Let's clarify something here quickly... "RCA" is just the connector. It is used for Composite Video, Component Video, audio, etc.

What this gentleman wanted was a way of connecting VGA to Composite. This is, of course, impossible with a simple cable, because the signalling is different. It could be done with a converter box, as has been mentioned.

Okay, but lets say we wanted to connect a dvd player to a pc LCD monitor, could we not use this cable? Provided the dvd player has R G B outputs?

The 4 dvd recorders I checked all have Pr, Y and Pb outputs but not the R G B necessary to make this cable work, however, 1 of my players is a R200 Olaff Ludwig OV1200 which is not only DivX, Mpeg and AVI compatiable but also has a VGA output...

Unlikely. The "RGB" plugs on a DVD player do not output RGB as such, but rather component.

Buy a DivX player. I have an LG for sale for R250
I've been through 2 LG dvd recorders now and both suffered the same fate, loading mechanism failure resulting in a 'no disk' error message. I don't think I'll ever purchase another LG dvd player/recorder. Thing is there's not much on the market and I would want to buy a DVD recorder with built in hardrive...

Assuming the monitor has VGA inputs, then you could use a regular monitor cable to connect your R200 Olaff Ludwig to the monitor.

But have a look here anyway:
