Is this possible

I have 2 linksys modem / routers. I only use one a the moment for my 4meg line for work.

Can I swtich on another router, plug that into the extra port at telephone line - log in Different ISP details and use on another pc?

Is this possible?

No only one modem may sync with the exchange, however you may create multiple pppoe connections. i.e. the second pc may connect using the alternate ISP details through the shared modem.

no. You can't do that. Not simultaneously.

But you can put the one router into bridge mode... and then create PPPoE accounts on the computer to "dial up" to the different accounts.

Ye, the one in Bridge mode must connect to your telephone line... does one of the routers have WAN port ? If so then there is something else you can do.

But surely if the second router also uses PPPoE like a computer, would you not be able to connect it to one of the open LAN ports on the first router and the have it dial another connection?

So the same as Gary's suggestion, except a router would be taking the place of a pc?

No, I think you missed this bit....

only one modem may sync with the exchange

It does not matter if both of them are in bridge mode or half bridge mode... or any other mode... only one router can synch with the exchange at a time. The other one will just stay disconnected. The second router that you are connecting via the first, will not "create" the connection because it cannot find the port on the exchange (which is already connected to the first router). A router is NOT like a PC in that sense.

WAN Routerx2+1ADSL modem w.router - yes,
ADSL modem w.routerx2 - no

ok cool thanks guys - not a techie so would rather just change the settings on 1 router

Right, confusing stuff. So only one router can sync with the exchange, but more than one pc can sync when it dials a PPPoE connection?

the pc doesnt "sync" with the line as such. only the router syncs up. the pc then uses the router's "sync" to "dial" into the exchange. that synchronisation (actual connection to the adsl network) can then be accessed from other pcs (provided the router is in bridge mode).

i.e. router provides the connection to the adsl network (sync). the router itself can then dial a pppoe or any pc on the network can bcs it already has access to the adsl network through the router (bcs its sync'd). this access allows for the verification of your account details. it is however the "sync" that provides this connection (or "gateway") and only one device can sync on one line at a time.
