Of course the solution to that would be to pay the R450 then stick the sim in the drawer, just don't forget to send the cancellation letter near the time of the contract expiry date.
I had the same issue. Originally my phone was stolen 3 months before contract end (I had a month before upgrade elegibility) and they refused to offer me an early upgrade (I was willing to sign for another 2 years)... then one day I was in the office and saw someone come in with the same problem - they didn't hesitate (he had a fancy contract), so i decided then and there to can both my contracts when they expired... one down, one to go (sep this year). Never again will I accept a contract, and probably never again will I use MTN. Even if the competition is no better, I am willing to give them a chance... this is just one story I have with them, after R50 grand I have spent with them over a few years, one would think I was important to them.
But that's just the problem 3Gee - They didn't go to those lengths with me when I approached them... always only after a hellopeter.com visit. Hence my decision to quit once contract is up and thn get competitors pay as you go.

Just a friendly warning. While I haven't always had the best of service from MTN , dealing with Vodacom was miles and miles worse. Having experienced both, I have to say that I'd stick with MTN. CellC & Virgin don't really offer much to the normal businessman in terms of phones & contracts. So that leaves MTN & Vodacom.
If you must try Vodacom, try not to sign a contract for more than 12 months. You'll see why.
Sorry, just my 2c![]()

Why do you say that PitBull , is the original poster hitting too close to home ?
Nea. I mean his free to make, do and say what he wants i assume.
It's just sad that he had to post it here. He's probably not getting enough hits.
Either way... Unless he pays his host the site won't be up much longer...lol check it for yourself if u don't believe me.
Yep , bandwidth costs money , but the MTN customer care does need a lot of improvement , bear that in mind , I'm still sending emails back on forth on my own matter as MTN decides now what to do with the handset.
Yea well DD,
I must say you've boosted my confidence in MTN a bit. Now if only the people at the call centre were as efficient and friendly...
Wouldn't one just return it to the dealer you took it from ?
I'm asking as I thought that was sorted ages ago.
