Do Broadband

The provision of Telkom's do Broadband bundles is subject to Telkom's standard terms and conditions, which are available on at www.telkom.co.za and on this website and at all Telkom Direct Shops.  The do bundles are also subject to the DSL terms and conditions and the ADSL acceptable use policy available here.

So I would say it depends on if you want the 'free' modem.
Do modems are covered by a 12-month carry in guarantee unless it forms part of a 24-month bundled contract in which instance it will be covered by a 24-month guarantee. The above guarantee will only be honored by Telkom provided that the modem and all its components are returned.

thanks - was looking for the website but no link from the telkom homepage...

hehe - so if you apply for DoBroadband and self-install they give you two free routers... Only Telkom... Me thinks they bought a whole heap and don't know how to get rid of them.

The Bundled offering is subject to a 24 month agreement whereby you will be penalised should you terminate your subscription before the period of 24 months has lapsed as per the terms and conditions available on this website, www.telkom.co.za/adsl/terms1.jsp

Are the DoBroadband packages considered bundled offerings?

Man, I wish Telkom could just be less ambiquous in their offerings...

Besides at the moment I'm paying R100 line rental, R526 for 1mbps, plus R70 per gig from WebAfrica. That totals R836 if I'm not mistaken for 3gig?

DoBroadband 3 (1mbps +3GB) at R675 isn't half bad - especially as it is a soft-cap. Only thing I'm wondering about is the contract with HellkomInternet.

That's what I'm trying to figure out Bondizzo - I just don't want to sign any 24 month contracts...

wow these actually look really good...2 questions:

1) does anyone know if the 2gb 384kb package is also softcapped?

2) can we choose between shaped and unshaped?

rishanb = Telkom has no answers... Why can't they just use some of the gazillion rand profit they make every year and employ somebody to answer all our questions like the other providers do???

ye i know. i'm trying to be positive tho :)

actually the real reason im positive is coz:

On a plane two weeks ago, I sat next to this couple. The women was HOT - so i start talking to them and it comes out the women has a very senior position in the adsl department at telkom. So i sat for hours listening to her explain why they are doing their best and how its not their fault etc. etc.

I think her fiance noticed me drooling as she used vigourous hand movements to explain her frustrations which excentuated her firm cleavage as it bounced around the place :D

True story.

IF you have a 4meg line its no brainier to get on to this deal, its only an extra R50 for 3gigs which is softcapped, I can even cancel my other adsl provider and I'll be saving R200-R300 pm

Yip - R516 for the 1mbps line or R675 for the Do package. Does the Do package include line rental?

If you had a 4 meg line (R512pm) with 3gb from Telkinternet (R249pm) you would save R761-R675 = R86pm.

If you had Closer 5 (R699pm) with 3gb from Telkom Internet (R249pm) you would save R948-R936 = R12pm.

Don't see how you get R200-R300.

Uhm... Gatecrasher - you're forgetting the R100 line rental on the 4 meg line. If it's included in the Do package the saving jumps to R186 (which is pretty close to his R200)

Do package does not include the 100 bucks line rental.
Do package is either a 24 month contract with free modem and free installation with a telkom technition, or you pay the about 450 install charges and get a free modem and no telkom techie shows up [paid for self install with free modem].

Ahh, but it's not included.

Stoke - what if I already have an active DSL line and want to open a Do account? Can I get a month-to-month package from Telkom?
