I got my Vodafone B970 Router!! Whoohoo!!

Absolute bliss.

I'm sitting here, surfing on my laptop, while downloading the latest update for my PS3....all wirelessly.

I love it.

And I don't think it's too big to carry around in your laptop bag. Laptop charger is often bigger.

Not at all....but I'd rather leave it here at home. :)

I've still got the work's E172 and will use that if I'm on the road.
 
I'm thinking of getting that router as a backup to what Telkom likes to call ADSL.

How much did it set you back? My 3G contract has been due for upgrade for over a year now, can you get it on one of the data contracts instead of a modem?

I got the router free on a topup 400 contract....so I just convert the airtime to data.

A bit wary of signing up for a data package, cos I go over my limit very easily - especially if I've got a laptop, PS3 and iPhone hooked up to it. :)

The weird thing is....you must pay R599 if you want it with a 2GB data package.

*I can also accumulate my airtime (still have a prepaid sim with 2GB data on it) and get a 3GB data package....and we have data roll over now, so safe if I don't use the whole 3GB in one month.

That sounds like a plan. Then you can just top up more airtime/data right? That's what I need. 3G bill been high lately.

Correct.

I figured the inconvenience of having to put the sim card in a phone and sms MYGIG 3 to 100 is a much smaller price to pay than getting a R2000 phone bill.

Oh, and the sim card is much easier to take out of the B970 router than a E172 modem. :)

You can also plug in your B970 in to your PC using the USB cable and buy your bundle through USSD.

ginggs, you ol' beauty!! Even easier. :)

I actually want to accumulate my airtime and buy a 3GB bundle next month....still using my prepaid sim with 2GB data on it.

Impressions so far? This baby rocks!!

SO much better than my E172 modem, cos I can place the router anywhere in the house where reception is optimum. Just love it.

Now where do I find software and firmware upgrades for my B970?

So thats all you need to do, sms MYGIG 3 at the beginning of each month? How long does it take to clear & get added to your bandwidth?

btw, did you get a R1000 voucher with the contract, my router is arriving on Tuesday and the Vodashop guy said it comes with a R1000 voucher on a top up 400
