DSL OK Phone Dead

Can anyone explain or know what might be the problem.

My DSL line works fine but I have a problem making calls (on the same line)

I have changed phones, filters and still nothing. DSL is fine.

Is this telkom getting back at me???
 
Odd! I have exactly the same prob right now!
 
I have no clue where either of you stay. Might just be your area.
Id be greatful my ADSL works and my phone doesnt. Id rather have no phone but have ADSL then have a phone and no ADSL.

If its still not working by tomorrow goto your local Telkom shop and good luck with that! ;) It must be something on Telkoms side if both of you have the same problem.
 
I had a similar problem a while ago.

When Telkom came out they said that it was due to the voltage on the actual phone line. Apparently ( and I can be getting this wrong quite easily ) the line needs to be able to maintain a voltage above 47V to be active for voice calls. If it drops below this , the exchange won't use it.
He swopped my actual line from the street to my buildings box, switched my line at the exchange and it worked straightaway again.
 
Had the same problem just after my ADSL line was installed, a few days later the ADSL went dead as well. It was a loose wire at the telkom pole in the back garden.
Get them out to come and rewire it.
