Mr Beep,

Can we have a clarification on:

  • Exactly when "after hours" stops and starts on the these accounts also what happens on holidays and weekends ?
  • Does this use our infamous the one and only sat3 which 'normally' was only a telkom sat3 connection apart from IS's satelite link ?
  • What latencies are to be expected, normal 200-300ms unshaped ?
  • Any contention ratio info available ?
  • Total speed == Line speed ?
  • Service guarantees ?
  • Lastly is both up and down streams via the sat3 ?

-i guess this is via the hong kong route out to london/europe and no server level agreement documents (...required by icasa for adsl products ?)

you guys realise there is another thread on this in the broadband news section, right?

Here's the link
http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=102227

But none of the questions have been answered there either, so not to sure the how it helps.

thats the announcement, sigh and no real what for what - just slap stick and we want you to buy this - definitely not unreasonable questions they have revalency if the product really is worth it or not.

if there is no clarification on especially "after hours" then the add can be misleading as to when exactly what you are getting, because taking vodacom for example their "after hours" starts at 8pm till 7am i think on their free minutes, how then can they at least state this or as i mentioned is it again as the uncapped IS products which at their whim get the rules changes hence no real 'what-what' on the website - how are you to buy something when not all the cards are open ?

-surely its not so hard to write out a clause ?

true.

but that's the thread that everyone is talking about it on, so it might be best to ask these questions there instead.

-moerse talking going in there since its been dormant for 2 days.

And this section is discussions about isps and their products and not announcements and news.

Hey Guys

Sorry for the delay. Been hectic with month end proceedings.

[*]Exactly when "after hours" stops and starts on the these accounts also what happens on holidays and weekends ?

There is no exact after hours time, but on average, it would be from 18:00 in the evening until about 06:00am.

[*]Does this use our infamous the one and only sat3 which 'normally' was only a telkom sat3 connection apart from IS's satelite link ?

Yes, it uses the undersea SAT3 cable, opposed to Satellite.

[*]What latencies are to be expected, normal 200-300ms unshaped ?

Of course it all depends what you are accessing. But generally pings should be around the normal Unshaped mark.

[*]Any contention ratio info available ?

I'm afraid not.

[*]Total speed == Line speed ?

The accounts are not speed limited.

[*]Service guarantees ?

No. It is offered as a best effort service

[*]Lastly is both up and down streams via the sat3 ?

Yes. Both streams run via SAT3 (international).

I hope the information will assist.

Kind regards
MrBEEP

I must say the pricing seems very good.

And the soft capping seems like a good notion as well.

May be a good option to get some better pings/latency with the Xbox360 :D

Currently testing and have got a 300-400ms improvement over a standard SAIX account on a 4mb line playing WoW

How high is the normal SAIX account then? I was under the impression it would be 400-500ms max already, so what are the new pings like?
