Call Rates: Telkom versus Neotel

Would be great if Neotel actually existed.

And, for most of us, we are stuck with Telskum until Neotel does ADSL anyways.

these prices all look great but is of no help to most people.

I'm on Closer so all those (except mobile costs) don't apply to me
If Neotel were to get ADSL than i will jump ship

All it will take for me is a call centre that can assist me in under 10 mins.

Come on Neotel!

Come on!!!

Lets get the show on the frigging road...

If Neotel was to become a big player these would force Telkom to drop its prices. I wonder if Telkom will insist on getting ICASA approval for price reductions? ;)

Hmmm, I wonder how much I would have saved trying to get hold of the Receiver just before tax deadline...
50c per call (the call goes through to the automated operator, then I press 1 for queries and I get an engaged signal... again and again...)

Why are cell phone calls so expensive round the world? Is it just "What the market will bear".

Is that it?

Frankly, I am underwhelmed... Their prices are basically the same with the only differentiator being the per-second billing.

So much for competition. They are obviously just following the collaborative price-fixing model that was perfected by the cellphone operators.

@duderoo. Sure, mobility is worth paying extra for but is the price charged a real reflection of infrastructure and maintenance costs. From gut feel I'd have thought it was cheaper maintaining a mobile network than a wired one. (I should probably start another thread on this)

whine whine whine whine.

All their per-minute charges are less than telkom's - local calls (which most calls are) seem to be at least 50% cheaper - add per-second billing and you'll save quite a bit. Couple that with their monthly rental probably being less as well (think I heard that it'll be non-existent somewhere, but not sure), and it seems quite attractive.

stop bitching.

why is national calls to neotel more expensive? that makes no cents ;)

Unless state organisations make a toll-free number available I find it totally unacceptable that a state organisation chooses Neotel a their voice call provider!
