South Africa hits 1 Million broadband users

What did they hit South Africa with? 3GB cap?
I bet that 40% of the 415 000 ADSL subscribers also have 3G/HSDPA data cards.

Experts estimate that the number of broadband connections will grow to between 1.5 Million and 2 Million by 2010.
Actually ... looking at the figures ... it looks more like 1.2 million by 2010. The rate of new ADSL installations is not increasing, and the cost of 3G/HSDPA is exxtreme.

Heading should have been:
"South Africa hits 1 Million broadband users in spite of Telkom, ICASA and DoC"

Add the few thousand MyWireless users and it brings the total number of broadband subscribers to just over 1 Million.

Lol! Priceless...

I reckon that a lot of guys have both ADSL and 3G and so we probably have less than 1 million broadband users...

I predict that we will pass the 1.5 Million in 2009 and probably more than 2 Million in 2010.

Did they count actual connections or IPS accounts?
I personaly have 3 adsl accounts and a Vodacom accout so am I 4 broadband users?
if that is the case I think they should halve that figure.

I believe the real number is 0. I don't think we have any consumer offerings here that can really be called broadband.
