MWEB WiMax trial to end

As much as I despise what MWeb charges for its other internet connectivity services, this is bad news for MWeb and consumers.

I guess Poison Ivy is determined to have Sentech chewing up tax payers' money under the guise of a mythical Sentech WiMax network.

Have we got any Mweb WiMax trial users here? What were your experiences?

I have been a MWEB WiMax trial user since May 2007, I have enjoyed a uncapped 384K service since then. I had two occasions when there was no connectivity. Once there was a problem with the base station that was quickly rectified and the other a storm effected the signal. I have 4 PC's at home and my kids thought it was heaven, they have never downloaded so many er.. movies and MP3's in their lives, they ran out of storage space eventually. The service was perfect, I would have no hesitation at all in subscribing to the service, as long as the price is right!

I have also enjoyed it as a MWEB trial User. I love it. At least it has improved its video streaming, having a dhcp plugin for the out door unit. I have downloaded lots of software as well. I believe it needs some more ADSL inbuilt router features like Firewall, VPN (pptp IPSec or OpenVPN) Also needs get into it ability to store your username and password in ODU for easy internet connection sharing and parental control. My kids will miss it a lot we all run Debian Linux at home.

Love it

OMG - this must be the worst day this year so far !!!

Me too, Ive had my Wimax since June 2007 and have made full use of its service - never have I had any problems. Everytime they did maintenance or when ever the service was down they sent me an sms. Even through rainy weather all was fine. Online gaming from my pc had a bit of a lag now and then, but from my ps3 it was smooth. I used rapidshare to download stuff as torrent was dead slow, but averaged about 2gigs on a good day. YES - Mweb wimax was awesome, support was good and the uncap service was the best - i have never in my life downloaded so much.

Does anyone know if they will be taking the equipment back? And if not, will I be able to use their equipment with telkoms wimax?

Then again - looking at SAOL's new packaged deals - not bad at all. Cant believe im gonna have to start paying for internet again.
