...new trailer
The confusion surrounding Resident Evil 5 and the allegations of racism date back to August last year. Some have deemed the game racially offensive, after witnessing the initial trailer for the game. Capcom repeatedly denied that the new Resident Evil game has anything whatsoever to do with any type of political statement. They continue to speak more on the matter.
Resident Evil 5 producer Jun Takeuchi says the controversy didn't have any effect on the design process of RE 5 and the team hasn't made any change in the game's content on account of these accusations.
Newer media from the game has shown a new ally-character for Chris Redfield (the central character). This new female sidekick was described as "ethnically ambiguous." To this Takeuchi said "We wanted Chris to have a partner who was familiar with the environment. She's been in there since pretty much the beginning."
He added: "In terms of the reaction, we're in the business of entertainment. We didn't set out to make a racist game or a political statement. We did feel there was a misunderstanding about the initial trailer," explains Takeuchi.
Racial accusations aside, the game is looking fantastic at this stage. You can look at the latest round of screenshots right here and check out the new trailer, which we've posted on Saturday.
