Would this CDMA EV-DO Ethernet device work with Neotel?

Maybe you can try emailing the manufacturer with details of the Neotel device and they should be able to tell you. Then import those units yourself and you would make a killing out of all 300 their customers.

But why stop with modem devices. Import CDMA Phones as well, if they work.

I was kind of hoping to get a Neotel answer. There is the proof that Ethernet CDMA devices do exist, so why does Neotel bring out but ugly 1980s lookalike devices?

In terms of the frequencies that ethernet gateway should work, however, it appears that Neotel are not planning on allowing different hardware to be used on their network. Here is some information about CDMA and the ESN and how to transfer devices from other networks. Some of the CDMA networks (in China, India etc. but not in the US) also use RUIM cards which are very similar to our local SIM cards. In some cases a RUIM card holder can even be fitted onto non-RUIM equipped devices. Often the hardware manufacturers can supply both options. Can anyone confirm whether or not the Neotel phone has a RUIM holder?

This might also shed some light on your question concerning the lack of an ethernet port. It would appear that some EVDO WLL type phones are not very expensive in bulk (possibly as low as $60USD?). It would be interesting to compare the User Manual below with that of the Neotel phone to get a better idea of the similarities between both devices. If anyone is interested maybe you could try to contact Zokoma directly to get confirmation about the bulk pricing of their CDMA WLL phones.

I'm just trying to remember. I think it does have a RUIM holder. Need to go to Postnet today, so i will go have another look at the device
 
If Neotel is using RUIM cards then you should be able to move the card to any other 800MHz CDMA2000 compatible device and continue to use the service on the new device. These CDMA devices that are being sold in Namibia should work for example.

Apparently the Sprint PPC 6700 which can be purchased quite cheaply on eBay can even be modified to accept RUIM cards. See these links for more details.
