R139 ADSL the cheapest

Nashua Mobile = SA's version of Carphone Warehouse
 
Wait - so does this R139/month package include the +- R150 one would normally pay to Telkom for Line Rental??

Ha ha when I started reading i wondered whether it might have been me... :)

I lodge a complaint about the fact that the router is network locked and none of the advertising literature mentions this but the ASA unfortunately said they can only act on what is said and not on what isn't. They referred my complaint to the "Internet Application Service Providers Association" so we will see if anything comes of it.

Nashua is cheap but they need to at least ensure that systems are in place to unlock your router once the 12 months is up.

Then, the router is just the carrot they dangle I guess.

They lock you in to them as isp.

My mother got capped this weekend so we loaded my brothers 10 gig account for her. You cant get pass the UUNET routers.

Think they should include it in the add somewhere that you are locked into them as ISP on this deal.

OK I did not read the fineprint..... maybe they do say it? Who knows?
 
OK sorry. got beaten with the reply [by far :-) ]

Will a Firmware upgrade work or is it on the network side the lock?
 
If you buy your own router, are you then allowed to use another ISP or are you restricted to using Nashua in thet terms&conditions?

Hmm..doesnt make sense because I emailed them and they said it would work. Did you try with a different router?

I would like to know if there are any clauses in the contract of the included ADSL Line in the R139/month ADSL package which prevent the user from using the line with a different ISP. Also are there any limitations preventing another ISP from being used on the line (besides the router being network locked). Regards

The only limitation is the router. If you use a different router that is not network locked then there are not limitations.
