iPhone details

Well it all depends on what the payin on the lesser packages is.... cos if its excessive this phone won't do as well as they want I don't think

They must be out of their minds. R3000 for a phone on a Talk500 package? JEEZ!!! What is the monthly cost then?

Im getting me one!
Whoooopeeeeeee!

I think the price is reasonable!

I paid under R5000 for the iPhone 2G so I'll skip this and upgrade later or if prices drop.

Insane price. A talk 500 is R800 a month....and on top of that, almost R3000 to pay extra!

Vodacom, you can keep your iPhone. Total rip-off.

No thanks. Look its a great phone and all, but there is nothing so special about it that justifies the high price tag. I have been a mac user for 10 years now, and think its great and all, but there are much better options out there.

The camera sucks, the speed is average, 3rd party apps still limited (and cost money), no MMS support, bluetooth can ONLY be used for headset, curved back is stupid...i could go on.

No thanks Vodacom. You can keep your "Jesus Phone"

While I am glad these prices are a lot lower than those in the 'iPhone Pricing Speculation' article, I still think it is overpriced. ESPECIALLY on the new contracts. However, the contracts' pricing and features are not half bad! It's pretty sad that the contracts excite me more than the phone

In several markets where it's not legal to lock phones to networks, Apple has apparently launched unlocked phones officially (albeit with contracts). If this is the case, and the operators in South Africa have undertaken to ICASA that they will not lock phones to networks, then what is to stop one buying a prepaid iPhone from Vodacom and using it on another network? If this is not the case, could this complaint be taken to ICASA or the CC?

HTC...

Sorry, but HTC is going to have to be it. And if at all possible, an Android HTC:-) There is nothing whatsoever attractive about the iPhone packages. So much for Apple pushing to make it attractive for all customers. If not Apple, Vodascum is doing a good job of screwing us. Oh well!
