HandyMap AI Gold alternative to the Garmin Mobile XT GPS software.

I found that HandyMap AI Gold doesn't work with the phone unless you use a program called PortSplitter and then use the following settings.

The best way to have HandyMAP working with the i900 by using the PortSplitter.
Install HandyMAP Ai 3D, install PortSplitter.
Set the Windows Mobile settings to program: COM8, hardware: COM9 and baud 4800.
Select [START] from the Home screen
Then select [Settings]
Then select [System]
Then Select [GPS]
Set Program: COM8 and Hardware: COM9 and Baud 4800

Run PortSplitter, Input ---> COM8: (type this in)
Output ---> COM6:
Then click ADD
Check the AUTOSTART function and press START SPLITTER.
This will start automatically whenever you open the application on a later time.

Then start HandyMAP Ai 3D,
Tool--->GPS/Track--->
Select [by user] set to com 6 and baudrate 4800

That's all.

It always works (even without soft reset)

What tips/tricks/apps do you guys have to share?

A shortcut to the task manager is to drag from the bottom bar up and this brings up the task manager.

Holding the hang-up button will lock the keypad.

My Storage = cell phone 8gb
Storage Card = 8gb micro sd

Most prolly getting mine tomorrow...

I googled and found this:

Have you found this cab file yet? If not, search for WM6RDP.cab on google or go to here where I found it:

http://www.pdaphonehome.com/forums/ppc-6700-xv6700/84897-wm6_rdp-mobile-remote-desktop-client.html

You can get it directly from your phone by going here and downloading it:

https://www.kckenterprises.com/WM6RDP.cab

Also here is some instructions to set up desktop and phone to work together:

- right click on 'my computer' (either from desktop or from start menu)
- select 'properties', click box under 'Remote Desktop'
- if your computer is behind a router, go in its settings under 'applications & gaming' or something similiar to that effect to allow certain applications specialized access in the 'port range forward' setting, below is how mine is set:

Application Start End Protocol IP Address Enable

remote 3389 3389 Both 192.168.x.x x

- for IP address, be sure you indicate the LOCAL IP address of your host computer
- click on 'save settings' button
- while you're still in your router's configuration window, go under 'Status' and determine the 'IP address' (computer's location address, not 192.168.x.x), write it down
- on your phone, load up the WM6 RD application, under 'Computer' type in the 'IP address' of your computer's location address - again, not the 192.168.x.x
- type in your 'user name', and 'password' of the ACCOUNT you log in your computer, or you use
- then hit 'connect'...that's it.Have you found this cab file yet? If not, search for WM6RDP.cab on google or go to here where I found it:

Why would you want to use handy map?
I was very impressed today with the Garmin...i was looking for a Tuscan bbq but didn't have the address...
I just typed in "tuscan bbq" and it listed the ones closest to me!!!

First of all...great thread!!!

I am looking for a software, that will allow me to manage my phone (create contacts, sms's, ect)...but will also give me an option to backup everything to my computer.

I really like the MITs Wizard 3.0 BUT, i need an option to sms directly from the software + add/modify contacts....(like an application called Jeyo)

Basicely... a combination between Jeyo and MITs Wizard 3.0.

Did anyone try using OxyCube?

Thanks,
Bar1

oh...and i want to separate from outlook.

Does anyone experience very slow speeds when transferring large files (movies) to the storage card of the phone.
Im getting a transfer rate of about 150kbps... taking hours :(

If I transfer directly to the device storage.. then I get 2meg/sec

I used it on my old Tytn so I just wanted to see if it worked on the Omnia, but the Garmin is much easier to use.

Only thing about this phone - in 6-12 months the i910 or whatever is gonna come out with 800*480 resolution and 8MP cam and 32 GB memory...

I used it on my old ETEN G500
:)
gonna miss this phone...i recently upgraded it to WM6.

I was hoping to play a bit with geo-tagging today and couldn't get it to work.
I switched the GPS on, and the gray icon comes up, i waited 5 minutes and it was still
gray.
and every photo taken is showed coordinate 0.
