A few years back, I inherited some money. Not much - most of it is already spent. The only people that knew about it were my lawyers, home affairs and my bank. Suddenly, my mailbox (snail mail) became filled with junk mail; credit card offers, insurance, loans that would "solve my financial problems forever", that sort of crap. Not to mention all the telesales calls I suddenly started receiving. I don't think my lawyers had anything to do with it. Home affairs is a possibility, but I am almost 100% certain that my "friendly" bank were the bastards that sold my contact details.
Maybe someone that knows more about these matters than I do could confirm or deny this, but don't municipalities also sell contact information to make some money on the side?

I don't see any mention of what will happen to companies when they ignore this bill? Also who is going to enforce it? Until such time I don't see the telemarketers giving a hoot. They will just put the phone down when you tell them to stop bugging you and you won't have any way to follow it up.
