Hey everyone,

Thought I'll share this with you.
There is a new torrent site, that started. Not mentioning it to you, but I am sharing a rather funny story. I just checked up on it, because today, OpenPortal.co.za Torrents (a local torrent tracker) was spammed with it.

The user soon after got banned, hence we checked logs and found proof of spam.

This user was a former moderator on our website, and was removed from moderator privileges for exactly this reason. After we created a case file, we decided to allow him back to the site, but not reassigning the moderator status.

Today he was caught for EXACTLY the same thing, and I am about to share with you the real story, with the proof we have. There are a lot of rumours going around, and I just want to set the story straight. Funny enough, he went through a great amount of effort to try and lie about what happened, to tell everyone his side of the story, and this has influenced a lot of people's view on us. I wonder why he went through so much effort...

News on the abusing torrent website:

As you might know there has been a big problem with me and Gudon(site owner of OP) I am sorry if you have been in the middle of this, and i hope it will not effect your thinking of the site.

You might want to know why me and Falcz made this site. Well i believe we can do better, not saying the other sites are bad, but i believe this site can be some thing that the others are not for some people a home. I believe you have no right for reading a users PM, and we do not stand for that here. As i believe no matter what to read them, be it a admin or mod.

If you get any threats or you not happy with the pm that a user sent you please report it to Admin or Falcz with the lines being said and we will resolve the matter as soon as possible.

i can't upload at both places as then the torrents will be slow, but i
have no need to explain, i find it very offensive you reading the pm's of
members, as they have privacy, i have not spammed i have sent three
members out of 500 so get the ratio.

I would also liek to get the coding for the blog i have done?? As i put
many hours and i would like to host it myself if that will be fine? As i
can't loose so many hours of coding just like that. So if you can send me
the files it would be much appreciated. I was a proud member of OP and i
never meant for it to go far with the other site, but you reading people
pm's i believe you have no right to do so and i believe many of your
members will also feel the same way

In response to this, we did notify the parties who could be inflicted - I believe that there should be healthy competition, but it should be played fair. I've learned that. These people are clearly not playing it nicely.

This sets the record straight. Hope everyone understands, that OpenPortal.co.za Torrents does respect privacy of members, however, when there are reports and traces of abuse, we need to step in and take the required action, no site will sit back and do absolutely nothing, while knowingly a user is spamming on your site.

I hope that after this incident the user will learn a lesson, and I think that BitFarm and OpenPortal.co.za Torrents both gained a little trust in eachother.

OpenPortal.co.za Torrents care about our users, and we will protect them from any secretive spam and rubbish, and keep the site clean.
 
Shouldn't this information rather be posted on OpenPortals website?
 
This matter stretches wider than only our boundaries. That's why I thought I will post it here.

He then was also recorded saying, in his sites shoutbox, his friend and himself were going to go spam, like they did at openportal, at bitfarm.

This post is just to have the real story, to the public.

I understand everything now, except for the words:
torrent, tracker, shotbox

mind putting it in laymens terms?:confused:

You know what, I have had enough of this k@k. It seems like the torrent admins are defnitelly getting power trips and all. I mean ffs "After we created a case file...." wtf is with that. Case file with what authority, the authority that exists within your tiny little piece of the net?

It seems like some people are trying to start new sites and want to try and get as many users as possible. Whats the point if you start a site and another one starts so what if some users migrate over to the new one. Its becoming an ego thing where some people want to brag and feel powerful. Please stop behaving like children, because this is becoming juvenile. Start working together for the good of the P2P community. The more the sites the better. We dont need people wanting to try and become the biggest site.
Remember that nobody in SA will ever become as big as Piratebay at least not for now.

As soon as this whole Bitfarm case gets sorted out and thrashed out, there will hopefully be torrent trackers out in the open.

Come on guys stop acting like little girls. I frankly look forward to wen open torrent sites can exist and we dont have to deal with "staff, case files, disciplinary hearings etc"

metalcore- we do work with other torrent sites as a matter of fact. it is side lines like the site discussed spamming in this topic, that doesnt.

Hey all

Ok well since this has been brought to a bigger view i would like to reply this allegations that have brought before me.

Well as you can see i did send pm's to the users on Open Portal, this being is that South Africa's lines are not so good, and i do not have the capacity to upload at BF, OP and other places all at once, so if a user asks me to upload some thing there i give them a link to the other site so as the user will be happy with the speeds.

As you cna see on my ratio both at bf and op i have done my seeding and my uploading to try help the site out as most as possible. So i have done my duty there.

Now with the OP discussion, i was a mod at OpenPortal for a few days, and i got a pm from a friend asking help with the site, this i grabbed the opportunity as to help him and to learn :), so i did so, helpign out with layout chatting about new ideas, until i get banned form OP, with out Gudon consulting me i got banned, so i came to him and i said, this is a bit unfair, you reading people's pm's (which i believe is a invade of privacy) so i said to him, i am a new mod not knowing that i could not help out a fellow member, and friend, well no out side third party help from a moderator, so in plain english if you pm me with a problem with a graphics card (nothing to do with torrents) i am unable to help. I found this really confusing, so i said to him i am sorry as i really did not know that i could not help him, and could not learn some thing.

So i went along got invited again, i minded my own business helping the users of OP if they pm'ed me, but i knew that my pm's were being watched, so i could not say or do any thing personal. But i did invite members to the site, three actually, Pirate1 which was attacked by Gudon as he came to my site, i find this highly un respectful, so i apologized for that, and i can give you the pm i sent to you. As i believe users should not get involved in other admins arguments.

SO i posted a news on my site, saying that what has happened i am sorry for.

Saying i am sorry if i got them involved doing the right thing on my part, I do not believe how this post can be used against me??

So yes i did invite members to the site, not trying to take members away from OP, as till that min i got banned i was uploading at OP even though my ratio so high knowing that users wanted the torrents :)

Now with bitfarm, i got banned from bitfarm with arguing with a mod, yes i know stupid, fighting a lossing battle and i knew that, but i said to him i never did any thing wrong and i never said what he said, and i have screen shots of what was said, but i have no need to upload them as he is my best friend and we do argue but so do we not all?? So i made up with him, five min later i am getting death threats from mods and threats, so i sho i took that to heart, i love bitfarm, it has been my home for 29 weeks, uploading 110 gigs and 80 download, 40 of those gigs on a 4 mb the other 384 so alot of long hours put in there, but even though those stats mean some thing to me they meant nothing to the mods that i thought were good people, till today i believe they good people, i forgive them, and we all know we get angry and say things we do not think should do in normal cases, so respect to those members, and yes i apologise for what i did therem and disagreeing with the mod, but as i say you take notes from all sides, so i did wrong, and i am sorry to the two members that i did say things to that i did not mean, and i hope all the best to you.

I got banned now from bitfarm on Regards to Gudon saying i spammed members there, this i am not doing so, as the admins on bf can see i invited members that i invited to the site, as they asked me to invite them there, so as a good friend i told them of this new sites. But now i have no way to respond for being banned from BF, as i do not see what i have done wrong, i chatted to the people i invited, we got along, and i invited them to another site, this is not spamming in my case, this is inviting another friend. And as the admins on BF can prove what i have said.

I have respect for both Gudon and admins of bf as they have doen great jobs on there sites, BF a great site, large and many good members there. And Gudon helping me out on the site i was creating thanks alot.

I would liek to see the replies by the admins of bf regarding me being banned, and i had no way to reply to them. And Gudon spamming i do not see the correct word.

there has been a big thing with BF and OP these days with the RISA on there case, and i am sorry for this and Glad BF won the battle :) But i would also like to comment on users right? I mean they in there letter to the RISA regarding rights and this, but do we nto have rights on this then? I mean we just get banned, harassing a user, banning them with out consenting them, privacy rights?

Please reply i would love to hear your views on this.

i agree from my side as a bf admin people like this need to act out of goodwill and be responsible for there actions i saport OP 100%.

We don't watch user's PM's but we do own the ability to. Out of respect we don't sit there, and look at each and every Pm that goes through, that's an accusation you once again cannot prove.

I did not attack Pirate1, I simply just gave him my opinion, that I hope he is loyal to us. So that you don't influence him to do bad things for you. Pirate is thus still a member, and seems okay.

I am surprised that you could actually come here and post. Was interesting to read what you have to say.

Facts remain, and your false accusations towards me cannot be given any backbone of some sort.

I believe that if there are any complaints from other users, the situation should be investigated, thus you got caught.

You were dishonest, you knew you were doing something wrong. You were wrong.

ummmmmmmmmmmm YODA no torrent site whants you because all you do is make trouble for everybody and for the sites thats the reason you got kicked from the sites and thats the only reason. YOU ARE BAD NEWS FOR ALL SA TORRENT SITES...
