Telecoms firm to sue Icasa

I would generally say "Bring yon pitchforks and torches - let us burn the demon in his slumber" BUT... hopefully the legal recourse will be sufficient. Go Altech!
 
Icasa is planning to convert the old licences into the new variety after inviting written representations from the industry on the conversion process. Icasa gives applicants until December 5 to make comments.

The procedure, ICASA, is as follows: ICASA acknowledges the previous owner of VANS license and issues the new licence.

They are expected to give Icasa a technical plan, define the scale of their networks roll-out, give details of their efforts to boost social and economic development in the country, and state their black empowerment profile.

- We plan to build infrastructure consisting of wired and wireless communication devices.
Scale of Network Rollout:
- Initially, the scale will be small, as time progresses, the scale will be larger.
Boost Social and Economic Development:
- We will be adding competition to an environment that sorely needs competition.
Black empowerment profile:
- Our black empowerment profile is as that we will hire skilled people to perform the tasks and promulgate competition. Preference will be given to black candidates where candidates are equally skilled.

I don't really see what the point is of all these questions, but hey, there you go, not difficult to comply with hey.

I'd like to be happy about this sort of thing, but there is just so much tax payer's money wasted on this stupidity by ICASA and the government that I just get sad.

That sounds like a more legit BEE than what we been seeing from similar companies;)
 
ICASA and the DOC are also going to get sued by previous licensees like Neotel who have now seen the value of their licenses drop because of Ivy's mess.

Btw, doesn't this immediately place Icasa in contempt of court since they are compelled to issue the licences by order of court?

Let's hope the licences get issued soon, before Ivy steps in with a big pile of horse manure to sour our lives once more.

I just love this sentence :

“Our client, in the light of the growing prejudice that it faces as a result of Icasa's delay, sees no alternative other than to proceed to obtain an order compelling Icasa to immediately issue it with the licences to which it is entitled," Werksmans said in a letter to the regulator.

I was waiting for someone to do this.
ICASA have messed up again inviting applicants to apply for licenses they have already been awarded by the previous court cases rulings.
Just issue the damn licenses already, stop messing around and wasting money and time! *grrr*

maybe ivy's directing icasa to stall for as long as possible? :sick:
