Was browsing through all the political party's websites and I actually have no idea who to vote for.

I don't agree with any of the parties I have come across so far.
I do want to vote, but if there is no one I agree with, who am I to vote for?

The party that most closely matches your views, or the party that you will think that will perform the best in governing the country.

Yes that's all very well, but so far there is no party that fulfills either of those criteria.

You can always spoil your vote. That is the only ballot box method of signalling to all the political parties that they're unacceptable. It's also the most powerful way of showing discontent for all proposed solutions ... it's said at the very place where power is exercised, ie the ballot box. You can't make the same point at party political meetings or in the Press because you'll be dismissed as an opposition agent provocateur.

Of course most politicians will tell you a spoilt vote is a wasted vote. As a class, the last thing they want is feedback that their policies are unacceptable. The Press calls it the doffie option ... only people who are too dumb to read or write properly spoil their ballot papers. But of course that aint necessarily so. There are some great examples where this method has been used to send clear signals to all parties that the voters find their policies unacceptable.

If you can't agree with any party, then you can still exercise your right to vote - by drawing a line through every party's name on the ballot paper. It's certainly a better option than not voting at all.

What specifically are you looking for in a political party?

Remember, that there are also other options, ranging including FF+, ID, PAC etc...

But surely you can find one party that better satisfies your preferences than others.

Or as discussed in another thread, you could engage in negative voting. ie. voting for any party except the one you least want to see in power.

what about choosing the party with the most values that you hold dear, put things in a list from most important to least and work from there...

Am i making any sense here?

If you look at England in recent years, based on Monty Python's sketch "Election Night" some people put themselves up as Silly candidates just to show discontent with the political norm.

I'm looking for one that first and foremost is against the death penalty. Doesn't seem to be many.

Pooky we have no death penalty in this country so why is that your main concern?

surely you have other stuff your looking for, what is so wrong with murderers dying? if anything i would vote for a party who wants to bring it back.

Yes I know that, but my reasoning is that I would not want to supports a party who want it and agree with it, even if they can't have it.

Well, to be frank, it doesn't really matter who you vote for. sorry...

yea, you have to work your way through the rot and the filth dodging the maggots and flies until eventually perhaps you can get a clearer picture of what their actual policies are, and then you still have to look at their track record.

We actually need 5 days to vote, 4 days 23 hours to analyse the contenders, and 1 hour to vote.

The only one I'm aware of that actually stands for the reinstatement of the death penalty strangely enough is the ACDP - others would consider it.

Ya I was so surprised!

I heard that the ANC is against it though.
