Hi

Is anyone else failing to send messages via smtp.saix.net? Had a problem of 2 pcs today; the rest use our own private smtp server. I just had some on saix because our smtp server is international.
 
Have noticed that the IP address of smtp.saix.net changed recently. Not sure whether that is related to your problem, though.
 
i sent an email as i left the house this morning which still has not reached its intended recipient. i assume i might be in the same boat.
 
Same here. Emails are just not arriving at their destinations and it's taking ages for mail to arrive.
 
Interesting - we are also on SAOL.

But our problem seems a bit different from the above smtp problems - the mail wasn't even being sent, and came up with the "recipient rejected" error immediately. Switched over to our private smtp and worked fine.

Yep, that's the error we received in Outlook, the error I quoted was on my work machine running Thunderbird.

It's allegedly a tilskim issue. I phoned saol this afternoon and was told to only use their dnss. 196.41.126.30, 196.41.126.4. Also, the dsl-cache.saix.net does not work anymore. Remove the proxy and it should work.

Also, use smtp.saol.com for your smtp server.

Yep, heard the same. Use smtp2.saol.com as well if the first isn't performing ;)
 
I know at one stage it had something to do with windows. a whole network at a company we use to service was unable to send mail via smtp.saix.net. i plugged my laptop up to the network and i was able to send after we reloaded all the pc's it worked again. strange thing if i also used private smtp servers all was perfect.

We run a mail server, no actual sending is done by the client/workstation itself, since the Mail program points to the mail solution.

Makes it easier to troubleshoot issues and generally speaking it's less work. Great thing I've got a young smart sys admin to teach me the ropes :p
 
Over the last few days I've been having problems with smtp.saix.net. Recipient address rejected: IP blacklisted. I have no idea what policies we're breaking,and no one can give me specific answers.

As mentioned in this thread, phone your specific ISP and ask for their SMTP server adress. If you use Telkom as your ISP then try it with smtp.dsl.telkomsa.net.

Yip I know. Been in touch with them, many many times. Don't want to talk about it anymore :mad:
 
When you guys are capped on SAOL can you still get to their site to recharge? From last month, I can't, and have to phone them to recharge my account. They don't offer 24 hour support, so at some point we'll be capped when they don't offer support:sick:.

What browser are you using, What error are you getting, Which point of the top up process are you stuck, Are you able to even get onto the website?

When capped, I can't even get to the SAOL homepage at all, where previously I could.

Browsers: I tried IE, FF and Chrome. Same result on all.
